How often do you see illegal ones?I was outside smoking, and this dude walked up on my left with grocery bags. I saw him and looked at him, but he had his hood up so he didn't see me out of the corner of his eye. He put down the grocery bags, pulled a pistol out of the front of his pants and moved it to his pocket like it won't no thang. He was like six feet away and totally didn't see me at all.How common is this shit?

And how did you determine it was an illegal firearm? Or better yet, and what you probably meant, how did you determine that he was illegally carrying?
11/23/2009 8:38:26 PM
ibt gunzz
11/23/2009 8:39:06 PM
not that ofteni've seen people ILLEGALLY carrying a firearm at times
11/23/2009 8:40:59 PM
GUNS! you talk about them like i ain't got none.
11/23/2009 8:45:46 PM
^^^^I thought those permits were rare.Plus, this guy was pretty young. I'm not even sure if he was old enough to qualify.^^I don't understand the caps.[Edited on November 23, 2009 at 8:48 PM. Reason : ]

WHAT YOU THINK I SOLD EM ALL?
11/23/2009 8:49:33 PM
concealed carries aren't that rare...neither are unlicensed gunsBut, I wouldn't carry an unlicensed gun w/ a cc....
11/23/2009 8:50:58 PM
Should I bother to report it next time?
11/23/2009 9:00:42 PM
only if he is doing something threatening or very suspicious... it is annoying when you are CC-ing or OC-ing (open carry) legally, and someone catches a glimpse of your gun and they call the police on youseveral people on here have been held by the police because someone didn't understand the laws and got scared of a gunnote: I'm not saying you got scared of the gun, you just didn't know how common CCP's are (conceal carry permits). You probably see several people everyday that are carrying and you have no idea that they are. I guess it isn't bad to be weary of a gun once seeing it, but it is something to base your own actions off of- you can get out of there or just stay back and avoid causing someone some potential pain in the ass questioning from a LEO about why he had a gun in food lion or whereever it might have been[Edited on November 23, 2009 at 9:08 PM. 11/23/2009 9:05:31 PM
how do you define an unlicensed gun? I need a permit to purchase a handgun, but after that, what
11/23/2009 9:07:31 PM
a gun you bought illegally/that doesn't have a serial number/that was stolenyou are supposed to give a copy of your CCP or a pistol purchasing permit to whoever you buy the gun from and they as supposed to keep this on record in case the gun is ever used in a crimeonce you purchase the gun, you are fine to open carry it almost everywhere (there are no no places like schools, banks, hospitals, court houses, post offices, any other gov't bldg). And when transporting in your car, you have to have it out in the open- these are all laws in NC btw- each state has its own set of laws (which you can easily find online)[Edited on November 23, 2009 at 9:11 PM. If I see some dude in Food Lion with a gun, I'm getting the fuck out.
11/23/2009 9:10:24 PM
dude, I would guess that at any given time, it is fairly likely that there is at least one person carrying in any given Food Lion.
11/23/2009 9:13:07 PM
^^like i said earlier, you probably do see people with guns in grub cub, but you just don't know they have one- that is the purpose of CC-ing. I like CCing better because you avoid any hassle you might encounter from OC-ing, but you still have it on your person^I know whenever I'm there there is at least 1 person CC-ing [Edited on November 23, 2009 at 9:15 PM. Whenever I get out of the Marine Corps (or at least leave active duty), I'll definitely get my CC.I like it when people OC, too...just because it stirs the pot and forces people to realize that guns are all around them, and it's perfectly legal to carry one around.

11/23/2009 9:19:15 PM
I have never seen any civilians openly carry a firearm in my entire life.
11/23/2009 9:20:07 PM
Thats weird to me
11/23/2009 9:22:11 PM
So do you walk around with it tucked in your pants that are so baggy you have to readjust it? I thought there were leg holsters and stuff. The guy I saw looked like he was purposefully trying to emulate some gangsta out of a movie. The area I'm in is turning out extra crappy. All the people here that I've given the benefit of the doubt to really are the losers that they appear to be. My neighbors moved in, and I joked that they seemed like those kids who thought dressing like heroin addicts was cool...turns out they were just actual heroin addicts.[Edited on November 23, 2009 at 9:36 PM. these are for different respondents in here... figure out which is for you.1.) CHPs are not rare. Hundreds of thousands of people in this state have them.2.) looks young =! young or illegal. if he's 18+ he very well could be within the law, under the proper situations.3.) There is no such thing as a licensed/unlicensed/registered/unregistered gun in NC. Registering guns is a waste of time and money and a major privacy rights violation.4.) If you feel that a crime has been or will be committed, call the police. But don't call the police because you're just an uniformed pussy - guns aren't illegal. people carry them.5.) Please come to the food lion on avent ferry so you can see me with my firearm and I get to watch your pussy ass run away.6.) There is no required paperwork for you to hold in possession, in NC, in order to own a firearm.7.) So you have never seen OC, great. Are you from an urban area? Are you sure that you know what you're looking for? Are you that observant? [Edited on November 23, 2009 at 9:32 PM. Reason : .]

^^i'm just wondering if you would be more likely to be stopped and charged for the GATTTOP... i know it would be a bogus charge and you could get it dropped, but carrying a 12gauge to go buy a gallon of milk might seem a little extreme[Edited on November 23, 2009 at 9:36 PM. Reason : ^]

11/23/2009 9:37:24 PM
^that's probably because you are aiming at them
11/23/2009 9:38:15 PM
yeah, i actually put mine in a soft case that makes it not look like a shotgun just to avoid those weird looks from the neighbors (also don't want someone who might want a new shotgun to see a place to get it when i'm not home)

Okay, I figured it out.It seemed so bizarre that he would just be walking around with a gun.But we live in a crappy neighborhood, the economy is especially bad right now, and the dude and his associate were carrying a lot of groceries (maybe in preparation for Thanksgiving). He was probably just tryna protect his groceries. They had already walked quite a distance from the grocery store and who knows how much further they had to go.
11/23/2009 11:30:32 PM
Unless you are a devote CCW'er, you would never know I had a gun on me and it would only come out or be seen if it was go time.

When I delivered a washer/dryer for Lowe's out to Bumfuck, NC, the older guy was open carrying a revolver on his hip. At first I was all cause I've never seen that before but then I was all and did my job.
