In honor of the Twilight Twink stealing all of the headlines recently, I thought it would appropriate to show the pithering masses what a real vampire movie is all about

I have not seen either Twilight, so its not part of either list

In no particular order:

Blade
Lost Boys
Interview with a Vampire
30 days of Night
John Carpenter's Vampires
Bram Stoker's Dracula
From Dusk till Dawn
Let the Right One In
Salem's Lot
Shadow of the Vampire

Vampire in Brooklyn
Queen of the Damned
Blade: Trinity
Dracula 2000
Lost Boys: The Tribe

It's not a movie, but I'm not seeing True Blood on either of your lists.

It's not a movie.

If you wanted to count the seasons as extended movies I would put the first one in the top 10 and the second one in the bottom 5.

I said it wasn't a movie, but part of the "new" vampire hype is also due to True Blood...just sayin'

Underworld movies are cheap campy garbage

Fun to watch if there's nothing else on, but closer to the bottom than that top in the overall scope of Vamp flicks

Listen you stupid fucks

You don't watch Vampire movies because of Kate Beckinsale and Aaliyah

You watch them because of the quality of the narrative

Jesus Christ

No, the Buffy movie was pretty bad. If we are considering series though, it and Angel are both in the Top 10. I agree with the OP list otherwise, although its actually "Interview with THE Vampire"

I actually didn't like the series at all, I guess it's just me.

And I thought the one with Keanu Reeves and Anthony Hopkins was unintentionally hilarious.

"I am dracula, behold my head-boobs and despair!"

It saddens me that Fright Night I & II are not on this list.

I've yet to see the comparisons on the teevee that I want to see

1) everything sucks compared to Bram Stoker's Dracula

2) which is gayer this new stuff or Interview with a Vampire (which is awesome though)

^^There is a lot of homoerotica in Interview With the Vampire but the vampires in it were French/from the 1700s where those kind of shenanigans were a little more acceptable. And even though there is a bit of gheyness it fits along with the story quite well. My gf made me watch the first Twilight movie last week (It actually turned out to be comedic gold. I couldn't stop laughing. I recommend it for a good lol) and it is reeeeeeeeeeeally ghey.

30 Days of Night was fucking stupid. Vampires are supposed to drink blood, not just slash throats and run around. That movie is the equivalent of a fat guy in a Golden Corral running around throwing yeast rolls and chicken wings on the floor.

spooky, they had an agenda in that movie...They weren't there simply to feed, they were there to slaughter the town and then disappear in order to preserve modern humanity's belief that vampires are "only bad dreams" and nothing more.

The refused to "turn" any of the town's residents, even when they requested to be turned

Top 10:

1. Lost Boys
2. Dracula (Lugosi)
3. Blade II
4. Interview with a Vampire
5. 30 Days of Night
6. Blade
7. From Dusk til Dawn
8. Fright Night
9. Underworld
10. Near Dark

Bottom 5:

5. Monster Squad (even thought it was hokey back then)
4. The Hunger (not even Bowie and a Sarandon/ Deneuve Lesbian scene could save this one)
3. Vampire in Brooklyn (Eddie, Eddie, Eddie)
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (way too cheesy for my tastes)
1. Let the Right One In (terrible. most pretentious vampire movie ever.)
