i think theres a difference between coverage and network
at&t's network might not be that expansive but their coverage through partnerships may be more broad

the only thing AT&T got going for them is the iphone. Without the iphone, I'm sure they're out-of-business by now.

they are trying to counteract the verizon 3G commercials, which ATT thinks we are too stupid to understand that the maps show 3G coverage, not SERVICE. glad to see a portion of my monthly bill is helping to make the clarification, by further confusing the situation.

They mentioned Dover, DE in the commercial. While it does have AT&T coverage there, it does not have AT&T 3G coverage. And I thought arguing 3G coverage was the whole point of Verizon's campaign.

^^i spent a weekend in Edenton, NC a couple weeks ago for a wedding. It was like the fucking twilight zone. Not a soul had cellphone service except for the few people who had Verizon and only then did they have a bar or two at the most of service. It was so bizarre.

Good thing you specified it was the AT&T commercial

Otherwise people might have confused it with the Luke Wilson Subway Commercial, the Luke Wilson Bud Light Commercial, or the the Luke Wilson Geico Commercial

^^^^^I was in Wilmington end of September and they had 3G. Was it only part of the city at the time?

So you never travel anywhere?

I went from Verizon to AT&T (iPhone) 2 months ago b/c I get a huge discount through work. I love the iPhone but haaaaaaaaaaaaate AT&T's coverage. My God it sucks compared to Verizon.

Verizon uses maps to show that AT&T's 3G coverage is lacking.
AT&T comes back with a map showing their calling area.

"AT&T's 3G wireless network officially available in Wilmington

From staff reports

Published: Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 3:51 p.m.
Last Modified: Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 3:51 p.m.
AT&T said Tuesday that its 3G mobile broadband network is available in Wilmington.

The StarNews reported in October that some AT&T cell phone customers – most notably, iPhone users – were discovering that their phones were picking up signals from the company's 3G network.

AT&T spokeswoman Amy Bristle said at the time that the company was testing its network here.

AT&T announced plans in February to expand its 3G network to New Hanover County. The expansion plan did not include Brunswick or Pender counties.

Verizon Wireless began its 3G service covering New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties in November 2006.

Fayetteville and Jacksonville already have 3G service from both AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

AT&T also announced Tuesday that 3G service is now available in Havelock, Concord, Hickory, Hendersonville and Asheville. It also said it had expanded service in Charlotte, Raleigh and Greenboro.

With 3G networks, cell phone companies can offer advanced services and increased network capacity. Mobile services include video calls and broadband wireless data.

Early this month, New Hanover County commissioners approved permits for two new cell phone towers, one of which will be built at Murrayville Elementary School.

That has prompted concern from parents and neighbors.

The 90-foot tower, which would be built by American Tower Corp. and carry signals for AT&T service, is part of the company's efforts to expand 3G service, said Tom Johnson, an attorney representing American Tower."

Verizon needs to stop lying. They dont offer any phones in Alaska. AT&T is the only provider that is in Alaska. At least they are honest about having No 3G in AK.
