I know a lot of posts will say [old], but I don't give a shit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IGtDPG4UfI

Is that real?

So if I picked up a Happy Meal now and kept it for 4 years, there wouldn't be any mold on it after 4 years?

the junk that author is putting in her face has to be 10 times worse than the preservatives in McDonald's food.

other than that, good find, trap.

it's not preservatives. the woman stuck the food in a dehydrator when it was fresh and pulled the water out of it. no water, no mold. based on her logic, I shouldn't eat banana chips or beef jerky either because they are the devil.

Being obese would help make you an expert. I mean, just because someone is still struggling doesn't mean they don't have any advice to offer.

It was weird that she said "when I was overweight," and it's like, "uhhhhh, you still kinda are, aren't you?"

However, I can relate. If you've been really big and you lose a lot of weight, you feel really good about it and like you've accomplished something major even if you're still overweight. Other people just see you as a fat person, but you see yourself as a fat person whose lost eighty or ninety pounds and is really fucking proud of it.

How do you know? Unless this is a bigger well-known story and you know more details that she has revealed.

Well, she says she has changed. I mean, she changed only after she was brought 6 yo and 2 yo Happy Meals when she was at some conference (?) and she saw that there was no mold on them. Never mind all the saturated fat, trans fat, white carbs, salt, etc. It is just the preservatives that made her change!

And her logic about why such food makes us obese (because it doesn't 'breakdown' even when it is 4 yo) is great!

yeah that theory about it not breaking down is why people are obese is rather baseless. food doesn't just rush to your thighs as a french fry. if the food "didn't breakdown" she'd have hamburger and french fry shaped objects in her body all over the place. i wonder if she actually believes all she is saying or just wants her 15min of fame

Anything that helps people change is a good thing.

I've got wacky ideas about a corporate assault on my body. I picture a bunch of rich, white dudes in a boardroom examining a photograph of me and brainstorming ideas about how to make me even fatter so I'll not only be a slave to their food but their diet books and heart medications, too.

In this scenario, I'm 100 percent the victim, and I accept zero responsibility for my weight problem.

It's not me and my problem. It's me and an entire industry (the man) trying to kill me. People may think it's a crazy cop-out, but I've lost a lot of weight thinking about it in that way.

I've heard that if you put a McDonald's milkshake in a hot car it will not melt or change properties at all because the consistency is a result of the artificial substance, not cold. For all I know it's bullshit, but it seemed appropriate for this thread.

if it's not moldy, then it's because it doesn't have enough water content to support a fungus. mcdonald's food decomposes just fine in the dumpster behind the store, so why didn't hers?

^^exactly, if a food has enough water activity and hasn't had any form of preservation applied to it, it will either harbor bacteria, grow mold, or both. Something will happen to it.

And like someone said above, the whole "break down" argument is a joke. That slice of potatoe hasn't broken down either, it just has mold growing on it. She asks, what is it doing in our bodies? WTF? You don't know and you're trying to be an advocate against it? Ignorance. I love science because it makes people like this look like an idiot.

I am almost embarrassed to admit that my Aunt (married into the family) has a McDonald's hamburger in her attic from 1981 (or around there) that has not molded. I am actually glad to know she isn't the only weird person doing this.

I personally won't stop eating the occasional fast food, I would rather do that then eat the bean sprouts and other odd things she has regularly.

19 year old burger... dude has a small 'museum' dedicated to them (he has several) in his house in Vermont:

Click last link to DO IT YOURSELF!!!

No dehydrators needed, eleusis!

Directions:

Quote :
"Buy some hamburgers from your favorite fast food restaurant: McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King (any place that serves hybridized, chemicalized, genetically altered, hormone/ pesticide-laden food) - BUT DON'T EAT THEM!

Put your hamburgers in a fairly dry location and let them sit for many, many years.

WARNING: Do not put your hamburgers in any sealed containers, like jars. The moisture needs to escape the food naturally, so letting them breathe in the open air works best.*

And that's it! You are now the proud owner of your own Burger Museum!

* After 6 or 7 days, you can display them proudly. No animals or insects will touch them - which makes me wonder why we would ever touch them!"
