anyone ever been out to the utah/colorado area to snow ski or snow board? i'm looking for the best bang for my buck. the longest rides, longest hours of operation, cheapest deals, places to avoid...whatever. i am just trying to get some ideas together for a trip and would love to head out to that region. any suggestions??

if cheap is a priority go mid-late december (before christmas) or spring. The conditions will not be as good, but it will be much cheaper and still immeasurably better than any skiing you'll do on the east coast, even in peak season.[Edited on December 3, 2009 at 11:33 AM. Reason : .]

i went to whistler in april and it still snowed but we got the post season dealsi'm sure they will have deals this year but maybe not as great because of the olympics - it will probably be a popular spot even in the late seasonbut you can get really great deals late in the season and the conditions aren't even sub par.

Don't waste your time and money going out WestIt's a common misconception that the best skiing it out there, but in reality, is places like Sugar Mountain and Catalooche where you'll find the best powder

^^^ lolololololI've been to Tahoe a bunch. It's 50/50 what you get. Sierra Slush a lot off peak. I LOVE being able to ski all day, go to a free happy hour and gamble at night. So much fun and it's a really great area.I've heard that Jackson Hole consistently gets the best powder but it is REALLY expensive.

i normally do an annual trip to snowshoe...where we can ski for 3 days, lodge, rent boards/skiis, eat---everything, for $500-600 a person. i was just interested to see if i could do about the same price or a few hundred more by going out west AND having just as good of a time. in other words, would it be worth it to pay more for the western snow.

basically the only difference in cost is airfare.so, yes, worth it.

If you go somewhere in Colorado, try to fly directly to Eagle after you land in DenverBeats the hell out of taking the winding 2 hour van ride up the mountain, and its only marginally more expensive

geez $500 - $600 a person at snowshoe?are you going over like new years or christmas or something? its never been that expensive when i've been.i guess i don't know how much it costs to rent stuff so maybe i'm not factoring that in.

well, three days of lodging is about $170 a person, the lift tickets for three days is about $180 a person, renting boards is probably like $130, gas is like $30 or so, food is another $50...it just seems to add up around 500-600 bucks after its all over. we go around the first weekend of February.

I spend as much on liquor as lift tickets it seemsI'm usually a Skyy guy, but when I'm on the slopes its Goose/Ketel all the way
