well....it was over 3. but last night was the official end as me and d7freestyler tried in vain to open it up and operate....i just did like microsoft said to do with that system and def kept it away from other appliances, etc and that shit worked for a long ass time....many a halo 3 hours wasted on that thing haha

I've got a first-gen system still running. It's got a November 2005 maufacture date. I got it used. I've had 3 failures though. I'm surprised this one isn't toast by now.

my friend got the red ring of death three times. after the 3rd one it was no longer under warranty, so he was shit out of luck and decided to buy a ps3. and i know 4 other people who have had their 360s fuck up. i'm content with my ps3 and wii. there are no games out now or coming out in the future that would encourage me to buy a 360.

^^^^ This was back when I was in college and played like 4+ hours a day (not just gaming I also used it as a windows media center extender to watch recorded TV). As I'm sure you know, the poor design results in a gap forming between the GPU and the heatsink during extended operation under load. Extended operation basically meant guaranteed failure.

^ Blu-Ray is a load of shit. xbox gets repaired/replaced for free, so it's not like we're actually buying 4 consoles!


In terms of modern computer hardware, both consoles are crap. Performance is on par with a $300 or so desktop PC. They were top of the line hardware 4 years ago.

Also, MGS4 is hardly a game. its more of a feature film that allows some user interaction from time to time. so yes, MGS4 is one of the games I had in mind when I said it was poorly designed crap.

that's more because of the artistic direction of the developers and can't really be considered an attribute of the system. each playstation system has also had exclusive games produced by american and european developers as well, so you can't really make that generalization about the graphics of playstation systems having the look and feel of anime when you won't even list enough examples to provide any weight to that argument. sony put the hardware in it. it's up to designers to determine how their product looks on a screen. the exact same thing could happen on a 360. outside of some square enix games that were always playstation exclusives i don't really know what you're even talking about, and square enix has released some titles for xbox360 as well.

despite the fact that there are a lot of extended cutscenes, how does mgs4 qualify as "poorly designed crap"? the graphics and gameplay are outstanding. just because it may not be a particularly long game outside of the cinematic elements doesn't mean it's not good. and even the cinematic parts are very well done, so all evidence really points to the contrary of what you said.
