i called a bank shot and it hit the edge of the rim, went off the backboard, then went through the net. this is seriously important right now tww
12/6/2009 4:02:42 PM
ultimately, it banked indoesnt matter what it did beforehand
12/6/2009 4:03:40 PM
not a bank shot. bankshots have to hit backboard first. was it off the backboard, then on the edge of the rim, it'd be ok.
12/6/2009 4:03:45 PM
see youre in agreement with my buddy as i am arguing H8Rs side
12/6/2009 4:05:16 PM
i would argue what it does first since that was your intention
12/6/2009 4:06:28 PM
that's not a bank shotyou lose, good day sirkinda like those broke-ass stiff nets where they don't act like a swish if you actually do swish the shot[Edited on December 6, 2009 at 4:08 PM. Reason : ]
12/6/2009 4:06:47 PM
he called the shot, and made itit's not a losehis friend just has to make a bank shot though
12/6/2009 4:09:43 PM
do the ends justify the means?i'm not quite sureI'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message...
12/6/2009 4:16:54 PM
it's fucking horseyou can bank it off of whatever you wantthe wall, the ceiling, the roof, the track, the rim, the backboard...ultimately, it went in.good job sir!
12/6/2009 4:19:03 PM
"bank shot" means backboard first unless you explicitly call something more specific
12/6/2009 4:20:34 PM
^^ That doesn't apply to called shots. If you call a shot and the end result is ot what you called, then it counts as a miss. If you make it, then the opponent has to repeat the shot as called.e.g. If you perform a windmill dunk and don't call it, your opponent can take whatever shot he wants. If you call a windmill dunk, then he has to perform a windmill dunk as well.If it hits the rim first, it is not a bank shot.[Edited on December 6, 2009 at 4:23 PM. Reason : ^^]

12/6/2009 4:36:07 PM
not only does it count, but your friend is now required to bank it off the rim, backboard and then into the netyou didn't specify WHAT KIND of bank shot it was - and it clearly did bank off of two things.[Edited on December 6, 2009 at 4:36 PM. Reason : s]
12/6/2009 4:36:18 PM
you called bank...you missed what you were trying to do clearly...you fail
12/6/2009 4:38:10 PM
sorry but the bank is closed

Bank shotA bank shot in basketball is a shot that relies on the ball bouncing off the backboard and into the basket. It is frequently used for mid-range jump shots from an angle (usually at the elbow) and layups. It is not commonly used for long-range shots or shots from the middle. The purpose of using the backboard is to try to hit the backboard at an angle, thus slowing the speed of the ball and increasing its chances of falling into the hoop. Another term for a bank shot is "off the glass". NBA players known for using the bank shot often are Sam Jones, Tim Duncan, Dwyane Wade, Scottie Pippen, Grant Hill, and Kobe Bryant.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball_moves#Bank_shot

yes but there is still a major grey area as to what qualifies as a bank shot specifically for the game of horse.

^^ No there's not.^ In the context of each sport, a bank shot has a very specific definition. Bouncing the ball off Grimace's head is not a bank shot either.[Edited on December 6, 2009 at 5:04 PM. Reason : ]

12/6/2009 5:05:46 PM
doh.... you bank shot the pwn into my face
12/6/2009 5:06:47 PM
the only way to settle this is to ask the bank shot master himself, Tim Duncan[Edited on December 6, 2009 at 5:13 PM. Reason : who would totally agree with me and limpynuts]
12/6/2009 5:10:13 PM
No I think it's been settled.
12/6/2009 5:11:32 PM
indeed.
12/6/2009 5:11:47 PM
it counts
12/6/2009 6:41:13 PM
Apparently this sunday, the bank WAS open (groan i know) because that was a legit bank shot.
12/6/2009 6:54:03 PM
if all you did was call bank then I say yes,but if it was a more elaborate scenario (ie two step, spin, bank and in) then no.
12/6/2009 6:55:25 PM
SO...according to Solinari, et. al., if i call a bank shot all i have to do is make it hit the rim before going in the net, and that's a legitimate bank. because it "banked off the rim"
12/6/2009 6:57:47 PM
I just called Justice Scalia and he said no good. Stevens was mocking him in the background though it sounded like.
12/6/2009 7:05:27 PM
this is worse than arguing the rules of shotgun
12/6/2009 7:06:21 PM
no this is wayyyy more important. shotgun is a game that has no ultimate winner unlike horse
12/6/2009 8:57:58 PM
too close to callgonna have to re-do the shot, its the only thing thats fairunless you either explicitly specify before the shot, or have set rules in place, its only right to do it over]
12/6/2009 8:58:49 PM
my roomate was the official scorekeeper and he gave me the shot. my buddy gave me alot of shit for taking it though
12/6/2009 9:38:44 PM
this shit would not fly in an epic dweedle/slave famous horse game
12/6/2009 9:42:32 PM
not a bank. this is like a free through hitting the rim first, then backboard, then in. i dont think anyone would call that a bank
12/6/2009 9:45:03 PM
It counts. If you had bounced if off the ground first it still counts. You called a bank shot and it hits off the backboard and goes in.
12/6/2009 9:47:15 PM
anyone that says it counts when the ball doesn't deliberately hit the backboard first is wrong as fuck
12/6/2009 9:48:17 PM
when you call a shot...there is no margin for error. when you hit the rim first, it is a miss.
12/6/2009 9:51:25 PM
Obviously you are trying to weasel a letter from the fact that the term "bank" is a verb nonspecific to basketball. As a bank shot is generally understood as "banking off the backboard", you sir, are a scumbag.I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
12/6/2009 9:52:27 PM
horse is srs bsns itt
12/6/2009 9:59:42 PM
I'm gonna say that it DOES matter what it did before because the intent was to bank it in.I'd hardly call a ball that hits the front rim, bounces off the backboard and drops through a "bank shot" for instance...
