Food Lion seems ghetto but prices are less than HT, but HT is cleaner....I tend to go to HT more, though.

You?

BJ's for food and supplies in bulk, and HT for fresh/perishable foods.

The thing with BJ is that I tend to spend more than I want to EVERYTIME I go there!

The trick is to know exactly what you want before you go, but don't impulse buy anything else while you are there, and then it's a real bargain.

I do like to raid my neighbors' fridges on occasion. One is an alcoholic who never eats, so she gives me food before it expires. The other one is 80 years old and doesn't eat enough, so she gives me huge tupperware containers of leftovers ... everything from pot roast to turkey stew to deviled eggs and more.

Dating is also a good way to avoid buying groceries.

for big grocery shopping trips i will go to wal-mart... but it's kinda out of the way, a few miles in the opposite direction of where i normally go when i leave home

just to pick up something after work, i go to harris teeter. just cause it's right on my way home from work. plus there are never really any lines

over the last year or so i've started going to the grocery store every three days or so, and only buying what i'll consume during that time

it's been good, gotten mostely to entirely away from boxed and processed foods, except for like, 1 loaf of bread every 3 trips or so.

fresh, local, and in season, ftw

When I have a boyfriend, this is definitely the case. But for a first or second date, I prefer to go out so I can figure out what kind of foods they like in the first place.

Most of the women I've dated can't cook for shit, which means I do the cooking.

Of course you buy more while dating, you have to cook for 2 more often... However, I eat alot, so I always have a lot of food in the house.

Giant and Trader Joe's. Our Giant kind of sucks though, they don't carry a lot of the varieties of things that I like.

Sam's Club for most meat (Chicken breast, pork tenderloin, etc.), salad, fruits, bread, and drinks.
Whole Foods for quinoa, pasta, hummus, etc.
Harris Teeter for my short notice needs.

Lowes Foods is preferred, but only when I'm with my girlfriend so I can use her card, not that they don't just swipe there own for you when you checkout anyway.

When I'm shopping for myself and family, though, it's Food Lion and Wal-Mart.

EDIT: I never knew a Food Lion could be so ghetto and full of Mexicans until I moved to Raleigh.
