Those things used to make me hungry as shit reading them as a kid.

The most memorable scenes for me were always the celebrations and feasts they would have in every book, and they would spend like 3 pages describing the most awesome sounding food and drinks imaginable.

Even when I was a kid I thought it was weird that a mouse and a fox could be roughly the same size.

I always wondered about that too. Like how could a mole and a badger live in the same buildings? Its dimensions would be all kinds of k-razy.

Yeah I was into these long before harry potter came out. I read like every one of them released before 1996 in a year or so, then got my first taste of having to wait for new books to come out instead of them just being there for me to read

I have the paperback of all of them released before 96, aand I've got the hardcover of Pearls of Lutra, the Long Patrol, and Marlfox (but I never read that one).

These books were epic. The Legend of Luke and The Long Patrol were my favorites. You know he's still cranking out those books? Haven't picked one up in years.

^^ Yeah I think Martin the Warrior was the hero in Mossflower (that's the one where they build Redwall), and the book Martin the Warrior is about his early life.

dropdeadkate was never forced to read a good book after freshmen year of high school, apparently.

Watership Down is fucking fantastic. There was an old animated movie they made for it, and it's bloody and violent as hell. I kept trying to imagine how they knew how the dying eyes of a rabbit looked, and I still think to this day they tortured rabbits then drew them in their various poses.

I love fantasy but I could never get into books where all the characters were animals. :/

Guess I have no Furry inclinations.
