just a tip, don't burn fresh cut pine in your fireplace, the sap will collect in the flu and can start a fire. It might be obvious but lots of people don't know.

yeah, i typically cut wood a year in advance. so the wood I cut this winter will be used next winter. we have a big barn that we stack it in so it's nice and dry by the time we need it.
