me and my friend did some bullshit where i'd start a game with charmander or something and then trade it to him, and then i'd start over with bulbasaur and trade that to him. and then i'd start over with squirtle and trade him a pidgey or a rattata to get my charmander and bulbasaur back so i'd have all 3. i always had to make sure their levels didn't get too high or else they wouldn't obey me
