Some highlights from my year

January: Broke up w/a girl I had been dating for a couple months. Last ~relationship~ i was in and, sadly, last time i got laid

The warranty on my BMW expired too so i was dreading having to pay for repairs myself

February: Don't remember much

March: Met another girl, that was pretty awesome, but didn't make it past april (cause i left the country)

April: Spent nearly a month in Asia on a cruise, one of the best vacations of my life. Really cool part of the world that I'm very happy to have seen

May: Get back from trip, meet up w/a trainer at the gym and start a new workout routine. Also my birthday!

June: Took up golf for the first time in my life. Bought a set of clubs and started going to the driving range/course with friends. Have to say I really like the sport even though I absolutely suck at it

July: I went to a shitload of durham bulls games, trying to soak in as much summer as possible

August: On my way to a Def Leppard/Poison concert I get rear ended(my car not me) by some mexican kid on 40 towards twc pavillion. He was found at fault, Nationwide supposedly picked up the tab but i'm still getting calls from the rental company...ugh such bullshit.

September: Finished up a project and wrote a paper for work. This will be my 2nd publication in my graduate career!

October: Went to the Muse/U2 concert at carter-finley. I had tickets very close to the stage and it was easily the best concert i've ever been to. Absolutely loved it. After 6 months of lifting w/my trainer i was able to lift 225lbs, I started not being able to do any more than 165-175. Feels absolutely great and my BF% lowered 6-7%

November: Had the first Thanksgiving with my family since i was 13, wow!

December: Received a huge bonus at work on top of already a large salary. I've been extremely fortunate for that and by the end of the year i will have earned well over 200k. Thinkin about buying a house (but really a kickass yacht)

Had a few ups and downs, but overall it's been a really good year. In terms of women this is the longest dry spell i've had in years, but I try to look at it positively, I've got a lot goin on w/finishing up my PhD and doin my own thing, maybe it's for the best

Happy New Year!

Par for the course, I suppose. It was an expensive year, classes were decent, I bought another bike, GF hasn't left yet, parents are alive, dick didn't fall off, etc. I can't complain. Lost my Grandpa though.

Jan: Begun Spring semester with 2 classes at NCSU

Feb: Nothing

March: Nothing

April: I got kicked out from the in-law's Easter festivities

May: Registered for 1 class for the 10 week summer session.

June: 1 year anniversary.

July - Acquired 2 new family members. Hiro and Zoe were only 8 week old beagle pups when they came home to my wife and I.

Aug - Turned 23. Dropped out of Fall Semester because there's no way I'm going to teach myself Physics II for Engineers succesfully.

Sept - Nothing

October - Nothing

November - Told my boss that I had evaluated my life and prioritied and need to finish school. I searched and found a 3rd shift job working on Fraud cases. I returned back to NCSU and enrolled during Spring semseter for another 2 classes. Had thanksgiving with me, myself, and my two dogs. I started hanging out in bars again. I've also started meeting people on t-dub irl and have enjoyed my experiences thus far.

December - I've had the Lexus for 1 year now, although it still feels like I got it just the other day. I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. I'm enjoying my new job. Christmas is coming up. I might be invited over to my in-laws, who I have given up on caring about since the Easter incident. Actually, I stopped caring way before that, but Easter was kind of the OMFG REALLY? moment that pushed me over the edge.

My life is pretty boring.

Jan: Was working full time at a Vet Clinic.

Feb: Accepted to Grad School into NCSU's Public Administration program. 25th birthday.

March: Got married, was a small affair with only immediate family. Spent a week in Boston & loved it. Had a big wedding reception with all the family & friends.

May: Signed on to work for a mayoral campaign for an election coming up in Nov which I would worked heavily on for the next 6 months as Volunteer Coordinator. This was a pretty big step for me because I volunteer or intern with campaigns a lot, but this was my first time getting a real position. Made it on the local news once and local radio a few times over the summer for various political campaigns & causes & so forth which was kind of fun. And the previous year I had made it onto WUNC/NPR's The State of Things, so I had to keep the trend going. I also wrote several editions of a pet themed newsletter for the vet clinic that I started that had 300+ subscribers.

August: Organized a really successful community Pet Food Drive. I started up one last year at the vet clinic, billing it as an annual thing, but this year we 1) had a much bigger turn out even with the recession & 2) I got commitments from the people involved to keep it going even after I left so that now the structure is in place to make it a permanent fixture to help out the local shelter every year.

I also finished up a 3 year run at my first full time job during that month.

I also started grad school that month.

September/October: Went to 4 different weddings all over the state.

November: They mayoral campaign I was a staff member for during the last 6 months won by about 100 votes. For those last few weeks every other night at least was an all nighter working on the campaign or school stuff. Saw a lot of the family for the Thanksgiving holiday.

December: Finished my first semester of grad school in the Public Administration program here at state. Straight A's so far, but I'm still waiting for a couple of grades to post. I'm most proud of my Public Policy Analysis assignment to do a Cost Benefit Analysis of some government project which is probably the biggest school project I've done... maybe only second to a research grant project I had in undergrad.

I'm hosting a going away party tomorrow for a friend who just graduated from grad school and is moving away for first job. And I've got plans for Christmas with my family on the 24th & 25th, and then heading down to Charlotte to see the in-laws later in the month. And I'm going to finish the year by having a new years party.

This year was fucking ridiculous for me.

January - Birthday party went nuts, cops called. Hilarity ensued when my friends had to come pick me up. Raleigh snow was pretty fun. UNC Campout was cold as shit, got below freezing. I dressed appropriately though, haha. Got pretty awesome floor tickets for the game. Played football.

February - Hopped on for an IAESTE national conference in Baltimore, blacked out for a good portion one of the nights. Friend broke my camera during said blackout . Mister Incredible Pageant. I think the UNC game was in February. Played football.

March - Centennial Campus Challenge. Dance comp in Charlotte. Ralphie May with my sister and some friends. Played football.

April - Dislocated my shoulder playing football, maybe end of March. It was out of commission for about 3? weeks, and I missed the South Carolina dance comp. Stopped ballroom dance because there were no more competitions this semester. Introduced to some cool chick

May - Finished up one of my favorite school semesters, where I took 3 awesome nanotech courses. Met some professors and started bugging them about my senior design project for next semester. Got tentative approval for my senior design project. Started work at a summer internship in RTP. Started lifting a shit ton.

June - Worked. Ate. Lifted. Slept. Partied. Researched liquid body armor. Oversaw an intern from Turkey that came here through IAESTE and worked 6 weeks with the Civil department. Grandfather died.

July - Worked. Ate. Lifted. Slept. Partied. Fareako got out of OCS, went with him and some other friends to see a band in Charlotte for friend's birthday. Met punchmonk, qntmfred, and Maya for food. Good times. Said trip was very perilous for Fareako's Jeep Finally got permission from U of Delaware to work on liquid body armor project. Started working out with 225 on bench and weighed 195, having gained ~10 pounds over the summer.

Went absolutely black out retarded on zombie movie night either end of July or start of August. Burned my arm pretty bad, got a cool scar out of it.

August - Cut ties with internship. Started school. Had a weird fallout with a friend. Found a scope and wrote proposal for my senior design project. Took the helm of president for club, and did a ton of start of the year events and meetings. Ruckus Prom? Played football.

September - Tore my ACL playing football on 9/11. Fuck. Doc visits abound. Had to cut down on my activities because I couldn't walk well. Assigned a senior design team, started working with them. Stopped playing football . Got a sweet handicap parking pass to park next to my buildings. Had a GET DRUNK theme party with some friends from back home.

October - Got the hookup from my parents on a new freezer loaded with premade dinners. Durham Beerfest was with a cool chick. ACL surgery on October 9th. Started lifting weights again a few days later in my parent's garage gym. Got a snuggie from my sister . Out of school that following week. Got helped out by my professors on quizzes and tests that were that week. Came back to school on crutches, was on crutches for two-three days then discovered I could walk without them. Started lifting again in my long leg brace. Got a get well present from a cool chick. Halloween was fun. Down to about 180lbs and lifting around 185 on bench

November - Hung out with this cool chick a ton. Handicap parking pass expired . Can't remember much else. Thanksgiving in New Jersey, where I got my ass kicked by my ~14 year old cousin in MW2 . Flew back for the UNC game, BEST. GAME. EVER. Met lucyinthesky? Or was that December

December - Facebook official with cool chick . Went up to Wilmington, Delaware for an interview, and stayed in an absolutely baller hotel. Met pilgrimshoes, pretty cool guy. Daniel Tosh! Finalized senior design project with team, fairly happy with it so far. Got 100g of free sample of one of our important reactants, Fumed Silica. Christmas shopping. Came home for Christmas break. I feel like I should be doing something. Back up to about 190-195lbs and working out between 205 and 225 on bench again

Oh, and posted on TWW a lot.

i'm not going to go month to month but i did have a really great year. all the bad things that happened were mostly (but not completely!) my fault but learning experiences all the same. and i'm really having a great time enjoying life right now!
