Why aren't you taking a bath or putting on some lotion instead of complaining.

HELLO PAUL1984 aren't you going to come back and defend yourself?!

geez, i can't get lubricant OR a good argument. what is tww good for anyway

^ no. i'm starting to think i should. putting on pants is like excruciating for my poor skin. i don't think it is eczema cause don't you get a rash with that? just moisturizing body wash (like the lotiony kind. no bar soap...that would probably just kill me haha). i didn't shower today because my skin hurt so bad i didn't want it to get worse

yea well having stuff touch my skin that close really makes them super duper itchy. maybe it is the laundry detergent that my dad has at this house or something. i mean i usually get dry skin in the winter pretty bad but lotion applied regularly typically helps

now my legs are like so itchy and my elbows are cracking even WITH lotion.

oh and this is kind of gross but my dog has been really itchy lately (yea the one from the pound)

she DOESNT have fleas. she is on frontline and i've looked for fleas on her - no flea crap or fleas to be seen

i'm scared she has scabies or something and now i have them

if she has scabies, you'll know it...there won't be a question of "do i have it?!" you'll just know...b/c you'll be itchy and have bites all over you.

Few things....

I dont know how often you wash your skin but try doing it every other day to limit irritation, take cooler showers, and ditch the lopha or whatever your using for a non-abrasive rag. Allow your skin to air dry. PUT ON YOUR MOISTURIZER RIGHT AFTER THE SHOWER, make sure it is fragrance free and hypoallergenic like Keri (my fav) or Luberderm. And try to do the shower, lotion thing at night

Quote :
"Many of us choose unwisely when we're in the soap aisle of the supermarket. We go for harsh soaps that generate lots of lather and leave us feeling squeaky clean. "The bubbling and lathering from soap removes the oils from the surface of the skin and dries it out," says Petronic-Rosic.

For dry skin care, look for milder, "fragrance-free" soaps. That's not the same as "unscented," which may still have perfumes, Kenet says. For many people with dry skin, the best choice is a mild, non-soap skin cleanser, experts say."

Kiss-my-face is a brand they carry at Whole Foods on Wade avenue that sells their stuff. Its about 5 bucks. They have a whole section devoted to that kind of soap so I would take the time to go over there and check it out, they have pretty knowledgeable staff.

I would be willing to bet lunch that fixing your soap, mostiurizer, and routine would dramatically help.

^^ thanks!!! whole foods - good idea. i've heard of the kiss my face stuff. i don't care how expensive it is - for this problem i am willing to pay money to not be miserable. once i start scratching i can't stop!

and i have been using a loofa. doh. i thought if i exfoliated enough my skin would stop being dry. i guess i was making it worse!

well i have 3 haha

i have st ives that i stopped using cause it wasn't getting the job done

i have udder cream which kinda helps and then this aveeno stuff i just got ton and just put on for the first time. it is fragrance free and it says it is for itchy extra dry skin. i know baths are bad for dry skin but would an oatmeal bath be? the aveeno got me thinking about an oatmeal bath.

if your dirty, then wash it. But soaking in a tub of water isn't going to do your skin any moisture favors, oatmeal or not. Perhaps try chaning your lotion again. Have you tried putting on baby oil in the shower, like after you wash your skin. Try that and then lotion when you get out and go to sleep. It will be smooth but not sticky when you wake up
