What are some of the cool places to live downtown. I'm going to need a place to live and i was thinking of looking in this area. I'm familiar with 222 Glenwood, anybody have any recommendations for other condos in teh downtown area? Thanks

if you are trying to live on glenwood, then your definitions of cool may vary from those held by a lot of other people....

The coolest place to live downtown, IMO, is somewheres like this:

http://www.homefinder.com/NC/Raleigh/46661216d_800_Glenwood_Avenue

but ain't too many people who can afford that shiz.

well not necessarily, im just looking right now. But I thought the apartments at 222 glenwood looked really nice.

I probably would get annoyed with all the construction noise/late night people noise after a while though....idk

^^^^Awesome. But as you said, a little out of most folks' price range. Also I think once you cross Peace Street on Glenwood you're not really downtown anymore, but that's kind of splitting hairs. You're quite close to it.

To the OP--there are lots of condos downtown. West at North, the Paramount (also debatable whether that one is downtown or not), I think the Quorum may have condos, there are several places over by City Market/Lincoln Theater (some on Davie between Blount and Person, and on Blount between Davie and Cabarrus), bldg at Dawson & Morgan (where the Borough is), one at Hargett & Dawson. Now as to whether these are rentals or purchase-only and the relative prices of these places, I know not. Probably not cheap though.

everywhere downtown are pretty much condos with the exception of 712 Tucker and Oberlin Court.

i live about 4 blocks north of Glenwood South next to Fletcher Park in a condo. i face Glenwood and i'm a 5 minute walk from downtown. plus it's quiet.

I used to live at 907 Glenwood - it was an old house converted into separate apartments. Similar to this: http://www.homefinder.com/NC/Raleigh/57138131d_600_Devereaux_St_A

Just drive around down there, especially off Glenwood (like Filmore St, Dale St, etc) and the other side of Hillsborough (Boylan Ave) and you'll find cool houses that have been converted to 1-2 bedroom apartments for pretty cheap.

712 Tucker just opened less than a year ago. (someone mentioned it before me)

Crosland built and operates 712 Tucker and Oberlin Court Apartment. We did the geotech and field services during construction for them.

Ah heck, how could I forget 712 Tucker. Looked there when apartment shopping several months back. Nice joint with some cool features, but what they wanted for a 2br unit was out of my price range.
