sup with the cat hate, begonias? my cat never peed on you or anything!

^ he's boarded at the vet's office, so basically he's in a cage. he'll be safe and stuff, but it reminds me a lot of the shelter where i got him several years ago. i just don't feel good about leaving him.

why the hell would you board a cat? Leave outside with a nice warm little house with a large bowl of food and water. No need to pay for cat boarding. If it is an indoor cat just have a friend come by every other day and clean out the little box and put food down.

^^Cats can easily stay outside for a week and be fine.

^^^ yes cats can learn to deal with larger animals by running away or not fucking with the animal. Maybe your cat is stupid and doesn't know how to take care of itself.

boarding a cat is not a vacation. don't be dumb. they stay in a cage for about 22hrs a day. they get to go into a "play room" for the other 2hrs, where they're forced to mingle with cats they don't know, aka fight and hiss and hide in the corner.

please, i'm begging you, let the cat stay in your apartment and i'll come by to feed/water/clean poopies. it will be much happier.

Honestly, it you left your cat w/ the toilet open, a bag of dry food cut open, and a fresh litter box he would be fine.

^^ I don't have any pets right now but i do want to get a cat. I can see the sense in boarding a dog but not a cat. oh and cats lived wild in NC when it is in the 20s/30s. You could just leave a house out for it with a blanket inside.

leaving a cat alone in your apartment for several days will be infinitely better than several days in a vet's office or any kind of boarding facility. not to mention save you mad $$$.

trust me, the cat would rather be in a familiar area with no human company than locked up in a cage with a bunch of strangers all around.

yes, for a whole week. trust me on this. i speak cat. a cat would much rather have free reign in an apartment than be locked in a cage for 22hrs a day. how is this not obvious?

but i'm really only referring to ragged/nicklepickle and their cat, and the fact that i pass their apartment 5 days a week AND i live 5 miles from them - so i'm the perfect cat sitter

I don't think there's enough cat-proofing that I could do to my apartment to be comfortable with leaving him here alone for a week.

he has free reign of your place every day while you're at work. what makes you think he'd get into more stuff when you're gone for 7 days? if it can be "gotten into" he'd do it while you were at work.

no you're not, i live 5 miles from you. actually probably less than that. i can come by every day if you need me to. and i will come by every day if it prevents the kitty from being locked in a cage all day at a boarding facility

what happened to locking them in the bathroom with a litter box in the bathtub, a huge bowl of food, and the toilet seat up.

jaime, just lay off.

Ragged has never been known for making the smartest decisions, and he has already made up his mind. Respect his decision even if you don't agree with it.

And, you're making some pretty gross generalizations about boarding facilities.

On a side note, for future reference for everyone, there are a metric fuckton of TWWers who can be called upon to pet/housesit, and who can provide TWW references. Hire your fellow miscreants

just give the cat a big bowl of food, a clean litter box, and a couple bowls of water or a dripping faucet.

i visited several "facilities" before our honeymoon in 2008, looking for somewhere to board our 3 cats. and by several, i mean more than 1 or 2.

all of them were the same. they keep the cat in a cage (no more than 4' x 4' x 4') and that's where the cat stays. they get out a couple hours a day to "play" in a big room with other cats they don't know (which like i said, leads to hissing and fighting and hiding in the corner) then they get shoved back in the cage. this happens every day until you come pick them up.

no house cat that i know of gets shoved in a cage all day while he's at home. he gets free reign of the house, he wanders around, he does his own thing. so even if he's alone, he's happy. a cat that is boarded is not happy.

so seeing your cute cat makes me SAD because i know you're going to spend $$$ to board him, when you can spend $5/day on me and i'll come by, feed him, give him love, and clean his poops - and he'll be free to roam the house and not be locked in a cage all god damned day.

i'm sorry but this subject really bothers me, so it's best i just not come back to this thread. i love animals more than i love most people.
