internet with TWC, tv with directtv

All of the deals they gave me are WITHOUT a contract... I'm still seriously considering a switch to DSL, but I wanted to just see what I could save before actually switching.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to Uverse/Fios or any of those fancy things.

I FIND IT ILLOGICAL THAT YOU USE ALL OF THE AFOREMENTIONED SERVICES CONCURRENTLY.

how do I got about doing this

My shit recently got jacked up as well

I'm usually caustic on the phone, but I'd imagine I'd have to take a softer tone here

^I, too, would like to know how to approach this. My cable/internet bill will go up in a little less than a year due to the promotion ending and I won't be having that shit. I don't have TWC (I have Comcast... it blows) but they are pretty much the exact same thing.

yes, I was very polite and even referred to the TWC representative by her name several times, "Thanks Jean... Ok, Jean, what about this... bla bla bla"

you gotta be firm but polite.

the DirectTV guy was the hardest to negotiate with, but I finally convinced him to knock $20 off my bill and then I told him that I would like to take advantage of that offer and I would also knock my package down from Choice Xtra to Choice (which reduced it even further)... He was all like, "son of a..." but then went ahead and put it in.

Now I am paying 34.95 for roadrunner standard (7mb) and $65 for DirectTV HD-DVR Choice...

^ I hate calling too, which is why I'm only doing it now that I'm using a few vacation days to sit bored around the house.

See I had a friend who did that same thing and when he said he wanted to cancel they were like "Fine, we'll come get your cable box and modem on Thursday. See ya."

HAHAHA

well, I suppose it helps if you've been paying your bill on time and you also probably get a bigger $$ discount if you're subscribed to the premium stuff - if you're only subscribing to their low tier package, they probably don't give a crap about ya.

Did the same thing a few months ago. Got our internet bill cut in half and our DirecTV dropped by $30/month.

Also just did something similar with my Sirius. They tried to bill me $96 for 6 months of service. I canceled. They called back a month later and offered me 6 months for $25.

Now if I can just get my cell phone bill down a bit without losing any of my minutes I'll be set

^ very good tips in that post... tip #7 is exactly what I did with DirectTV:

Quote :
"Let them make the first move. Before the chat, had I not received a cost break, I was willing to cut my service levels. I didn’t offer that right away, and it turned out that I didn’t need to. Don’t show all your cards right away."

Only, in my case I actually did want to reduce service... But I still didn't reveal that until I had squeezed all the extra $$ I could out of them. Then I agreed to their reductions in my bill and added on the service reduction for even more benefit. I was afraid they would say the %reduction would only apply to the more expensive service and I could tell the CSR was on the fence about it, but I agreed to it so confidently and happily that I think he just figured it wasn't worth it and let me have it.
