a king can move backwards but can a king move multiple squares before and after jumping? before or after jumping?

can a king move a few spaces jump a piece then move a few spaces before making a second jump or do the jumps have to be consecutive?

someone made the statement "if there is a jump a availbale for a king at the end of his turn he can always make it a multiple jump"

someone says "the king must STOP after making a jump, unless theres another jump on the NEXT square."

someone says "the king can jump a piece and CONTINUE to move all the way to the coner after the jump. "

someone says "the king can't do anything special except move backwards" (us rules)

someone says "the king can jump, move a few spaces after the jump, then change direction and jump again as many times as possible" which virtually means any piece thats not on the end gets taken.

king is less mobile but has more mobility
i used to work for Heinz, they make checkers, and the rules in the USA are different than the east coast
east coast rules say the king can make 1 jump and make multiple mandatory jumps if king wishes but is not required

those are different. in the first one if a king jumps a pice and theres another 3 squares further, then he can jump it also but int he second quote, he has to stop if theres not another piece directly in front of him.

jump slide jump slide as opposed to jump jump stop.

I haven't played flying kings in my adult life. Kings can travel in any direction, though, so you can make a triple jump up-right, up-left, then down-left, assuming the normal rules of jumping are followed.



Flying kings had to stop at the next square past the checker they were jumping. So you couldn't jump from three squares away, and land two squares beyond the jumped checker. The next jump could be made from x amount of squares away, but again, you'd have to be able to land at the very next square, so you couldn't jump two checkers in a row.
