So this fatty coworker drinks coffee (appetite suppressor) like it’s a gallon of milk in the morning, has another large cup in the afternoon, and for lunch? Cheese and grapes. Know how much fat is in one cube?!

I almost want to tell her, hey, heroin is a better diet.

So your coworker throws up the coffee in a trashcan after trying to drink it in under an hour?

i go through about a pound of cheese per week (seriously)

this year's goal is to avoid any processed meats that include sodium nitrite (which probably means i'll be relegated to shopping at whole foods and paying twice as much, but the more i read about NaNO2, the less appealing my lunch meats are )

there are prepackaged cuts that do not contain sodium nitrite.

they are not that much more expensive, but for the last few months i've taken to the habit of buying a turkey london broil on sundays, searing then broiling it, and using the slices instead of deli meat for the week.

turns out to be significantly cheaper than even bulk deli meat.

last night, i did just a basic rub with 2:2:1 smoked paprika:black peppper corns:kosher salt, pan sear both sides, then broil off under a foil tent, flipping and re dusting once in the middle of the cooking.

Im sure this is not reduced fat. It's from the hospital cafeteria. It make have about 6-8 cubes.

It's not enough protein to justify this as a low carb, protein lunch.

I drink 1-2 gallons of whole milk a week, and many of the dishes I make involve cheese. My heart may explode one day.

I couldn't ever keep a jar of peanut butter at my desk. I would nom it all day and it would be gone in a few hours. Cashew butter is sooooo delicious but the only place I've found it is Fresh Market, and it's a little pricey (You have to grind up the cashews yourself in the machine they have).

i've committed to having one salad a day (at least) for the next week. if i can do it with ease, i'll extend that to include 5 days/week for as long as i can handle it.

i use these sugar free dressings i get (http://www.maplegrove.com/sugar_free.asp) and i avoid cheese, croutons, and other carb-filled toppings.

^^^i love salads, and i plan to eat at least one salad a day. it will likely be for dinner since it's easier to prepare a salad at home than it is to try and find a decent salad take-out somewhere.

^i am trying to go low calorie at the same time, so i'll probably just avoid cheese.

calories aren't everything and shouldn't be used as the sole measure of a food's impact (good or bad) on your body

you have to take into consideration things like fat, protein, and fiber at least, and better if you factor in vitamins and minerals

500 calories is 500 calories, but 500 calories from a bowl of white sugar is not the same as 500 calories from apples

eat whatever the fuck you want, just pay attention to portion size. except for the OP, none of you have a reason to worry about this. if you want to lose weight cut down the portion size. you can even indulge a bit occasionally.
