I used to play 5, 6, and 7 and they were the shit. Why are there not more games like this?
1/4/2010 8:14:24 PM
My MOM played KQ. I used to watch. It was badass, imo.
1/4/2010 8:15:41 PM
lol
1/4/2010 8:16:00 PM
Haha I used to play!!
1/4/2010 8:16:17 PM
I think I spent a solid 30 minutes telling my husband about this game...and let me just say, you don't realize how weird it sounds until you're sitting there going, "But if you go to the Druids' island, they put you in a cage over a fire and you use the dress to beat out the flames, and if you haven't made the rain potion in your lamp then you're screwed because it won't start raining and put out the fire. Once that happens the Druids are like 'respect,' and you can go get Death's horse and rescue the princess's murdered parents from the Land of the Dead, and then the ending is much happier and you get more points."
1/4/2010 8:18:27 PM
I messed around with it, but usually ended up playing Zork or jacking off to Leisure Suit Larry
1/4/2010 8:19:08 PM
I played 4-7, and yes, they were fucking amazing.
1/4/2010 8:19:27 PM
The really early ones were way too hard...I kept walking the guy off a cliff in one of them (KQ2, maybe?) 4 was somewhat more cooperative, but I never did get all the way through it.When they came out with the new one, Mask of Eternity, I was all excited, until you had to start it off by fighting fucking zombies. That is NOT what the game is about.
1/4/2010 8:27:56 PM
i played 5 but i was pretty youngthe only thing i remember is something about a bear and bee hive
1/4/2010 8:28:04 PM
i did. but i preferred Police Quest.
1/4/2010 8:30:51 PM
Yeah, dude. There's a bear trying to get the honey, so you give the fish to it, and then get the bee's honey...and do something with it.
1/4/2010 8:31:14 PM
I played 7 for a while, but didn't get into it.
1/4/2010 8:32:13 PM
Shit! Why did you need the honey? (I didn't play 5 as much as 6 or 7.)The thing I remember about 5 was having to find the golden heart in the witch's forest and give it to the tree to turn her back into a woman and get her harp, which you used to...catch something. There was also a haystack with a needle in it and you had to get the ants to help you.[Edited on January 4, 2010 at 8:34 PM. Reason : OH WAIT...you had to befriend the bees for something...?]
1/4/2010 8:33:43 PM
not only have i played and continue to play all the King's Quest games, I played most of the space quests, conquest of the longbow, conquest of camelot, some leisure suit larry...pretty much if the game had a sierra logo on it and it was an adventure game then i played it.
1/4/2010 8:44:27 PM
I played the hell out of 6 cause it was the only game i had for a long time. If you didn't talk to the jester in like the 3rd scene you were fucked 20 hours later in the game, and there wasn't a thing you could do about it.
1/4/2010 8:45:09 PM
OH MY GOD, I FORGOT ABOUT CONQUEST OF THE LONGBOW. I loaded that on my grandma's computer so I could ignore my family when they got on my nerves (at age 10).Whatever happened to Sierra? Do they still exist?
1/4/2010 8:45:43 PM
According to wikipedia:
1/4/2010 8:51:23 PM
King's Quest was cool, but I was always a fan of Space Quest.
1/4/2010 8:54:49 PM
what was that early 90's racing gameit had the crazy ass tracks
1/4/2010 9:02:24 PM
i played 5 and 6 religiously. took me forever to get up the rock stairs in part 6 because i didn't have the manual. KQ7 i never played just because i found the intro very hokey.^MEGARACE was the name of the racing game with all the tracks.[Edited on January 4, 2010 at 9:05 PM. Reason : oops]

i loved KQ, does anyone have a link to any good torrents that have it?
1/4/2010 9:18:28 PM
I just downloaded 6 from XTCabandonware, but it quit on me when I got to the bookworm. I think they have a bunch of them. Here: http://www.glennsguides.com/2008/07/kings-quest-6-heir-today-gone-tomorrow.html

1/4/2010 9:45:29 PM
I used to love this game. ]
1/4/2010 9:48:02 PM
I cant remember which one I used to play, just that if you put a speech bubble over some plants the game would say "the plants, say nothing" and there was a drunk dude in the streets in a village yelling "Old lamps, for newwwwwww, old lamps, for new"
1/4/2010 9:53:01 PM
That would be KQ6, the awesomest of them all.
1/4/2010 9:56:45 PM
Anyone ever play the Homestar Runner parody, Peasant's Quest? That was a pretty spot-on take on KQ1, as I'm reminded by watching that playthrough.
1/4/2010 10:01:22 PM
KQ VI FTMFW
1/4/2010 10:05:45 PM
Ken Williams ftwwhile we're at it, don't sleep on the Police Quest and Leisure Suit Larry seriesI never played any Space Quest games though I don't think[Edited on January 4, 2010 at 10:09 PM. Reason : .]
1/4/2010 10:07:44 PM
I was far too young and naive to understand Leisure Suit Larry......my dad liked it though.
1/4/2010 10:14:18 PM
i used to play iti like those kinda games but i never get very farjust using objects you find to get to the next part of the game. simple, but fun. but FRUSTRATING
1/4/2010 10:16:14 PM
No love for Quest for Glory? I played all of those.

there are a lot of crappy things about my job, but there are some great things that balance it all out.one of those great things is the fact that i have access to literally tons of hardware and software, from 2009 stuff all the way back to PCjrs, c64s, and old apples. i almost have a complete collection of the original installation floppies from kings quest, space quest, and leisure suit larry series. and police questdont know if they have any value but its cool. the only thing is that those games are REALLY hard to play on a fast processor so i had to build a 486dx machine to be able to play most of them like they should be playedmy workstations are like museums, its really neat

I played KQ. I remember the little red riding hood quest and the witch that drove out of her cave in a limo. It was ftw, before ftw existed.
1/5/2010 8:46:18 AM
Y'all are going to hate me, but I think I threw away KQ5 in the box a few months ago. It was the one I used to play on an IBM 286SX.
1/5/2010 9:06:57 AM
i used to play king's quest iv alllll the time
1/5/2010 9:07:16 AM
1/5/2010 10:43:28 AM
i THINK there were 3 ways to beat KQ6, but i only did it one way (poison, maybe?)...the river styx method was never something i could figure out (and i think there was one more after that)
1/5/2010 10:46:10 AM
is this an age check?first video game system is a pretty good measure... mine was a 2600...
1/5/2010 10:46:18 AM
I played KQ and Space Quest. Don't remember much about either other than I had fun playing them and some of the puzzles were tricky. Wish I could give them another shot someday.
1/5/2010 10:47:37 AM
i was up on KQ1 and 2, think i got 3 but never played itdef played space quest 1 and 2
1/5/2010 12:13:10 PM
there was this one game back in the early 90's / late 80's you were a captain of a ship (had a pick of a few ships) you configured it (from starting money) and then you'd run missions (cargo and such) but we could never figure out how to start them, or get them or move the ship or something. it seemed like such a cool game too...

1/5/2010 3:27:38 PM
my brother and I played kq4 all the way to the end but as we were leaving the witches castle on the horse we kept on falling off the fucking cliff because you had to use a goddamn keyboard to control the horse so we said fuck it and never saved the fairy queenoh well
1/5/2010 3:44:31 PM
I'd like to find one with the voice-overs rather than text-only, because I miss hearing Robbie Williams as Prince Alexander. (He was the voice of the Beast in the Disney Beauty and the Beast, and I totally recognized his name on the voice credits of the game!)
1/5/2010 8:50:15 PM
1/5/2010 9:03:37 PM
All I remember from that game is getting stuck in the damn whale.
