Message boards in general have significantly died down in popularity with the rise of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. TWW is no different.

People are much more inclined to connect and spend time online with real friends (Facebook) or people who they admire/share common interests with (Twitter) than interact with assholes who they have nothing in common with and can't have a legit discussion without being belittled.

Face it folks, TWW is dying a slow death. There is no influx of new people happening anytime soon. Not gonna happen.

The only new folks that come are those who want to see what this is like, only to wish they had their $5 or their 5 minutes of life back.

While not new news, it's important to come to terms with reality.

That is all.

TWW is good for the things you don't necessarily want to share with your circle of friends, such as, how many times per day do you poop etc.

this site isn't allowed to die, not until NCSU is no longer a college.

Discussion of local issues, various topics(unlike narrowly focused boards) and a small degree of anonymity are a winning combination.

I've got to believe that a bunch of people who all went to the same school, with a similar education level, a lot of them from the same state, and around the same age have some common interests.

I enjoy torturing and eating small animals.

[Edited on January 5, 2010 at 1:03 AM. Reason : I also enjoy long walks on the beach and a small degree of anonymity.]

New users join TWW all the time; it's just that the old users are too busy jerking themselves off to notice.

so the vast majority of TWW users don't have common interests... you're telling me these other sites are a better discussion medium? well, facebook, myspace, and twitter all suck as message boards... because they're not message boards... and message boards aren't going away. and the user base here does share common interests:

- college students
- ncsu students
- trolling
- technology
- recent events
- goatse

^ agreed, message boards that are independent from a social site are always better (expect maybe Steam).

TWW will live on. This place has been going strong since what, like 1998 or something like that? How many sites/internet things have stayed successful for that long? Even AIM is rarely used anymore, and I used to use it every day of my e-life up until about 2006. I think the key to TWW is that it doesn't try to fix what isn't broken. Shit like Facebook is constantly changing and whatever, but TWW is familiar. Also, even though I've never met 95% of the people on here, I still feel like I kinda know a lot of them. It's like an e-family. TWW HUG!

i don't use twitter. i guess i'm too old to get it. i use facebook, but it in no way resembles or has the same function as a message board. there are 23409827347238 forums on the intarwebs with so many special interests that i really don't see that ever declining. did you find that written somewhere?

we don't need new people. we have enough of us old folks and aliases to keep us entertained. if tww relied on new people to survive, it would have died a long time ago.

as long as tww exists, i will be here.

Twitter is underestimated as a news source and given the fact that I spend large parts of my day away from a computer, television, or radio it has become a significant source of information for me.

comma however

I will readily delete anyone who posts random crap about their day I don't care about and I really only send out interesting news stories I've found.

[Edited on January 5, 2010 at 10:34 AM. Reason : there, I said it, I use and like Twitter as a news feed.]
