One of my resolutions is to drink MOAR water.

so teedub how much water do you drink in a day?

I've only had 16.9 oz so far

I have heard you should drink half your body weight in ounces a day.

If I get a glass when I get to work in the morning I'm thirsty all day and drink a ton and have to pee every 20 minutes. If I don't get one and just nurse coffee all morning I hardly drink any.

i think the thing i heard about half your weight in ounces is to help you lose weight, drinking more water to keep you full

Don't drink 64oz of water a day + a glass of juice at breakfast + a coffee + a couple sodas.

Water is in all three of the others.

I drink a LOT of water in a day. I keep my glass full pretty much all day at work. And I do the same at home, really. It's a pretty huge glass, and I go through, geez, at least six or seven glasses just as work.

i drink 64oz of green tea (it's weak, actually, since i don't bother brewing it anywhere near full strength) every day while i'm at work, and then another 32-48oz of water between the gym and just being thirsty

close to 100oz, but probably not above

pretty sure the dehydration idea stems from the assumption that caffeine causes dehydration and as such, it would be dependent on the caffeine content of the tea (where green tea is pretty low)...but even then i can't imagine black teas have any significant effect

the water thing is stupid. what you should do instead is drink water when you are thirsty. Unless you are planning for some upcoming major activity its the best plan.

about 1.5 gallons a day, although some of it is in the form of diet soda at lunch and my PWO shake. the rest contains crystal light or benefiber. I almost never drink water by itself.

At least one of the posters in this thread has clearly had water on the brain for a while, judging by their mental impairment.

drink enough water so you don't feel thirsty

your body is pretty good at letting you know when you need shit... like water, for instance.

Wait? So you're telling me that our bodies are able to tell us when we need water, which has worked for thousands of years without needing some doctor tell us that we need to drink 8 glasses of water a day? And are you saying that people who say, "I don't ever really feel thirsty," obtain their water content throughout the day by drinking or even eating other things?

What you're saying is crazy talk.

A lot of people confuse hunger for calories with thirst for water.

I usually drink 1.5-2 liters of water a day if at work. If I'm not at work its a fair amount less.

How dehydrated? 10%? 1%?

What are the long term adverse effects of being dehydrated for the short amount of time it will take me to become thirsty?

you don't know do you

the people who drink tons of water are the same as the type of people who buy detox stuff to rid their bodies of "toxins"

your body has it covered, don't worry about it

If I was going to run a marathon, I would concede the point to you. But for every day sitting on your ass and minor workout, I think the system that has been in use for thousands of years works good enough. Diluting your urine with excess water is nothing more than just a waste of water.

meh, waste of money, tap water or even filtered tap water isn't gonna be that wasteful considering we only actually drink a very small portion of the fresh water we use... (why we don't use non-potable water for toilets and urinals is nutty (work environment at least) keep your dogs out of it at home)

I drink usually ~120 oz out of my nalgene (tap water) a day, plus 2 glasses of unsweetened tea with every meal and i'd assume the glasses are about a pint each.

really? got some evidence to back that up, or are you talking out of your ass? yeah, thought so

Quote :

this is also pretty damn retarded...your body doesn't have jack shit covered when it comes to a plethora of toxins that we ingest on a regular basis...do you even know what a carcinogen is? are you aware of the fact that a very large number of carcinogenic chemicals do not occur naturally and, because of this fact, that your body cannot necessarily negate the effects of ingestion/inhalation/absorption/etc?

hell, asbestos is natural and it fucks you up...just imagine what the stuff made in a lab can do

maybe your point was that your body will tell you if it's thirsty or not...if that was your point, i'll agree that for a healthy human being, that is how it is indeed supposed to work...but to pretend like your body has all toxins covered is absolutely retarded and you should learn to organize your statements into related groups

i'm talking about detox diets and fasts that remove "toxins" i know that there are dangerous chemicals that can accumulate in your body. a GNC detox or detoxifying isn't removing any of those, if you have mercury poisoning or something you should go to the hospital.

and most carcinogens are natural, they've always existed
