Damn. When does the overwhelming urge to smoke go away? It's just every now and then. Talk about a major distraction. On a good note, I already feel more energetic.

I've found that most people smoke when they reach that awkward pause in social interactions where nothing is happening. It relaxes you and gives you something social to do at the same time. If you can limit these situations and/or be aware that that's one reason you want to smoke it might help. It's like when Dale Gribble said his reason for smoking was because he didn't know what to do with his hands when he's talking.Or maybe I'm just a dumbass, I don't know.

^I think there's a lot of truth to that. Hell, half the people I've known who smoked usually started during periods of stress in their lives. And it is a very social thing.greeches...that's one more thing to LIKE as far as I'm concerned.

I have been trying to quit dipping, which my doctor told me is WAY harder than quitting smoking.I was a can a day dipper for about 3 years. After New Years I made it about 3 days before I almost put my head through a wall. I have decided rather than cold turkey to try to ween myself off of it first. I am down to a can every 3-4 days now, which is fantastic for me.

How you feelin?I was finishing lunch today and felt like I would just about die for a smoke.
1/12/2010 12:41:52 PM
^^ I can attest to quitting dipping being much tougher than quitting smoking (that's not to say that quitting smoking is easy). as for quitting: gum (lots of it), water (lots of it), keeping busy (all the time), and don't rule out medication... I took Wellbutrin and it really did cut down on withdrawal symptoms. [Edited on January 12, 2010 at 12:44 PM. Reason : .]

So far so good. No smokes today. It's funny because I've had decent energy today for the first time in god knows when.I'll have acute jones attacks every now and then, but they go away fairly soon. Nobody has died yet as a result of my temper.

i don't get winded anymoremy smoker's hack is just about nonexistent

one thing that helped me quit smoking was exercising everyday. Do something aerobic if you have time, if you smoke, it will make the workout so much harder, or it did for me. The first few weeks were the hardest.
