I got front row seats for a seated show because I was sitting at my computer waiting for them to go on sale. For once, the system worked as it should.
1/15/2010 11:31:52 AM
Then, according to Murphy's Law, the show will be canceled.
1/15/2010 11:33:05 AM
I would cry.
1/15/2010 11:33:45 AM
i personally feel like seated shows should be reserved for orchestral performances and the likeif this is the joanna newsom show you were talkin bout in entertainment, i'm not familiar with her work. will it be possible to enjoy it seated? or will you still stand up, just in an assigned place?
1/15/2010 11:34:28 AM
We'll be sitting. She's a harpist.
1/15/2010 11:35:06 AM
ahhhhhso she'll be seated too LOLZ
1/15/2010 11:38:11 AM
so technically she's got the front row seat unless you are sitting beside her.
1/15/2010 11:40:09 AM
The stage is not a row.I'm posting this video knowing full well that some people are going to freak out about her voice. ]
1/15/2010 11:41:37 AM
jesus christnot my cup of tea. she sounds like a retarded bjork.but harp ftw[Edited on January 15, 2010 at 11:45 AM. Reason : haha^ hadnt seen that when i made my post vinylbandit=psychic]
1/15/2010 11:44:39 AM
take the joke boy!
1/15/2010 11:45:39 AM
^2 hahaha my reaction exactlyI was like hmm maybe she's got a unique voice... holy crap I had to stop it after 20 seconds of vocalsbut she's a great harp player [Edited on January 15, 2010 at 11:47 AM. Reason : .]
1/15/2010 11:46:46 AM
i hate it when they reserve the first rows for box office sales(or employees/friends/scalpers)]
1/15/2010 11:47:35 AM
you are weak sam.... i made it through almost a minute.definitely not my style. the harp sounded awesome though. not knockin your taste or anything though. to each his own.
1/15/2010 11:49:36 AM
i did a search for dewey cox playing the harp but couldnt find anything
1/15/2010 11:50:43 AM
nice...that's how I felt getting 2nd row seats for Andrew Bird in 2007
1/15/2010 11:51:27 AM
I clicked on the video with the thought that perhaps this time I wouldn't feel like stabbing myself in the eardrums. No such luck. She's like nails on a chalkboard and those Renaissance Fair weirdos from the English Department all rolled into one big nightmare.
1/15/2010 11:51:29 AM
Are you saying that Heather wants to ride with me?
1/15/2010 11:52:29 AM
eh, I liked her
1/15/2010 11:52:30 AM
This is the first Joanna Newsom song I ever heard...hooked instantly. ]
1/15/2010 11:58:55 AM
i guess it's rare to have harp & vocal talent. i like the harp though
1/15/2010 12:01:36 PM
Voice caught me off guard a bit at first but it is growing on me, definitely a unique sound.....I'm sure it would be an good show.
1/15/2010 12:01:57 PM
1/15/2010 12:04:51 PM
link her song Sadie. that's the one that got me hooked on her and others may enjoy it as well. I totally dig her.[Edited on January 15, 2010 at 12:06 PM. Reason : add]
1/15/2010 12:05:17 PM
Sadie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vodb-dJOqoUalso, fuck Andy Samberg
1/15/2010 12:10:27 PM
1/15/2010 12:11:06 PM
is english her first language?cause if it's not, i think its just a gimmick the way she sings, like the guy in kings of leon, and its just not appealing to me
1/15/2010 12:13:03 PM
she's Americanshe also definitely toned down those weird affections on her voice on Ys (her second album).. some of the songs on Milk Eyed Mender can be a little harder to listen to, i'll admit
1/15/2010 12:17:44 PM
It's not a gimmick so much as it's a function of the way her voice sounds when she's putting any power behind it. If you listen to the end of the joke in this video, when she yells you hear the same timbre change as when she's singing.
1/15/2010 12:18:38 PM
Not hating at all, but I had to post this because I read this yesterday, and had no idea who most of the bands/artists were, and when I saw this thread, i had a little haha moment. http://www.riverfronttimes.com/2009-12-30/music/hype-machine-ten-most-overrated-albums-decade
1/15/2010 12:22:11 PM
i was talking about her pronunciation of words
1/15/2010 12:25:30 PM
^^ Eh, I listen to it at least once a month. Also, that article loses all credibility by calling Is This It overrated.Make no mistake, though; the Decemberists are terrible. ]
1/15/2010 12:26:17 PM
^agree with everything you saidit's not an album you're gonna throw on at a party or something, but i still listen to it semi-frequently.
1/15/2010 12:29:05 PM
i enjoyed vampire weekend. it's not the best but i wouldn't call it overrated
1/15/2010 12:51:00 PM
In music circles there were a number of people who went fucking nuts when that first Vampire Weekend single came out in '07. In fact, there was so much backlash from the hype on that single that there were people who were tired of them even before their LP came out. They're definitely overrated. First record has a couple of good songs but it's nothing special. New record is trash (though that has nothing to do with that list). ]

IT FEELS LIKE THE FIRST TIME[Edited on January 15, 2010 at 1:22 PM. Reason : .]
1/15/2010 1:22:20 PM
pronunciation sounds like a girl version of adam sandler's silly singing
1/15/2010 1:26:47 PM
1/15/2010 1:28:22 PM
if you play part one and two at the same time it makes some very awesomely weird harmonies.
1/15/2010 1:36:08 PM
She's no Hetfield.
1/15/2010 1:38:05 PM
