Last time I check, they were on the same island, yet I haven't heard anything about the DR being affected by the earthquake.

Yeah, when Katrina hit New Orleans, I didn't hear about any trouble in Vancouver

DR isn't a squalid shithole that made a deal with the devil

It's kind of like how Los Angeles can be hit by an earthquake, but San Diego is okay.

DR is also a richer nation than Haiti

Not that they're rich, but before the quake, DR had better infrastructure, hospitals, etc in the first place

Yeah, because thats totally the same thing. Considering that the DR accounts for almost 3/4 of the island and you haven't heard anything about it is just a little odd.

^Yeah that makes some sense.

Haha, my analogy was almost perfect.

Distance from Port-au-Prince to Santo Domingo: 113.61 miles.
Distance from Los Angeles to San Diego: 111.57 miles

Yeah, because earthquakes on that island can only strike the capitals.

Believe it or not, but Santo Domingo is not the only city in the DR.

But I do see what you are saying.

I honestly thought the island was a little smaller than that.

of course not, but if you look at Bridget's picture, the epicenter of the quake happened to be right around Port Au Prince

i doubt the far north and west parts of Haiti were hit too badly if they even felt it

One of the first settlers was an excellent domino player so everyone on the island inherited his skill.

lack of domino skills lead to people being shot for not paying up after losing. eventually only the good domino players could mate and spread.
