I have gone 24 hours without food and with just a little water (0.5 litre), not on purpose, though. Couple of days, couldn't it. But if I had to for some reason (medical, etc), I would.

I've done it several time for church functions. My youth group has gone on 24 hour fasts before, it was difficult...especially cause we would have lock ins when we did it and when you're staying up all night long being a crazy middle and high schooler you get hungry.

I've done it a lot of times. The first few times it sucks, but after a while you're body gets adjusted to it. I highly recommend you do it. It's good to see how far you can avoid temptation to food. Just make sure that after fasting for a day to ease up back into eating

i haven't eaten since dinner last night, but not on purpose. I'll be at 24hrs in about 10 minutes. i did have a dr. pepper around 2:00 to stave off the hypoglycemic shakes.

i didn't take anything with me to work for breakfast and had to run an unexpected errand during lunch. i didn't have time to pick up anything, as i was already running an hour late.

i feel fine, maybe a little weak but i'm always tired at the end of the day. but if i don't get something eat soon, i'm going to have a headache and get the shakes though.

its not like its the first time this has ever happened, its not that big of a deal. have you guys seriously never gone all day without eating?

I fasted for two days after my last visit to New Orleans in 2006. My reason? Clean myself out. I stayed drunk for about four days straight.

The fasting thing isn't hard but I do recommend plenty of water. I drank mine ice cold, constantly just barely sipping on it.

Dude you can go on for days without food before your body starts using up muscle. After a few days your body will adapt and you will feel fine. There are a lot of health benefits to fasting for a couple of days. i recommend Kiwi try a fast

4-8 hours without food: body turns to glycogen storage in the liver
16-20 hours: glycogen from muscles
and after a few days, your body switches over to fat reserves

source: wikipedia

i just don't understand how you can maintain a healthy exercise schedule without eating

i'm a cubical dweller 8+hrs/day, not running marathons. its easy to get by on one meal/day.

Quote :
"Glucose is the body's primary fuel source and is essential for the brain's functioning. When denied glucose for more than 4–8 hours, the body will turn to the liver for glycogen, a storage form of glucose, to be used for fuel. A process called glycogenolysis converts glycogen into a usable form of fuel. At this point, the body will also use small amounts of protein to supplement this fuel. This fuel will last for up to 12 hours before the body needs to turn to muscle stores of glycogen, lasting for a few more days. If glucose is still denied at this point, muscle wasting is prevented by temporarily switching to fat as the fuel source, meaning fat is converted into ketone through catabolism. Ketones, while not sugars, are able to be used by the brain as a fuel source as long as glucose is denied."

i've gone as long as 7 days before, the first day is the hardest because you're hungry all the time. after that, you're not really hungry, your stomach just feels empty. it's also kinda weird just sitting around with your thumb up your ass while everyone else eats. when you first start eating again, you have to limit your portions significantly or you'll get sick

I've done 10 days before on only water. Its not a big deal after 2-3 days, hunger just goes away and like ^ said, be careful when you start to eat again or u will end up taking a dump on yourself.
