They talk shit because every UNC fan knows 5 State fans, and every State fan knows 50 UNC fans

Its a rivalry in the technical sense, yes, because the teams play every year and are close geograpically

But in the sense of competition, I see a rivalry being where the teams go back and forth with wins, not where one team wins almost every single time

So it would be hugely beneficial for the 'rivalry' if we were to take 2 out 3 or 5 out of 7 to even up the recent history a little bit

I am not defending UNC here

In the interest of full disclosure, I will say I rooted for UNC before I enrolled in State, but since 2004 I have dropped all allegiances and am 100% Wolfpack

That said, my argument is not lending credence to Carolina, but instead to the spirit of the word 'rivalry' itself, which is tossed around far too casually these days

I simply think we need to win more than 1 game every 10 years to be legitimately viewed as their rival, not by us, but by them and by all non-partisan observers
