torrents are where everybody's partying these days

im getting torrents from limewire. i guess i dont collect a whole lot of stuff, just fire it up when i need something. what network do you use?
1/30/2010 1:02:56 AM
I use Vuze's search a lot of the time cause they compile from btjunkie, mininova, kickasstorrents, and others. I use demonoid too sometimes, but I rarely download stuff so I could be behind the times as well.

^^ no, im sure i'm more behind than you are.and yeah i've heard of those. i never got around to checking them out, i just need fairly common stuff every now and then, not cutting edge where the cool kids are :-P like now i just got a popular app 800 MB in under 10 minutes, so, you know, if it works...^ EDIT, yeah, uh whoops... i just noticed and changed that to KB/s. Sadly I spent the last 6 minutes thinking about if this conjecture of 700 modems in the basement is even possible. Of course we'd need to run direct fiber, but that tops at like 250 MBits. So we'd need ~30 direct fiber lines into the basement, with ~30 modems or terminals. Forget a single router, we'd need, say, 5 routers... fed into several (10+) SAN's for temp storage, and then finally an output SAN where it would get all put back together from it's various pieces.Really want to see those rooms where NSA monitors even a fraction of internet traffic. Those machines would have to be STOUT.

I think I once used Limewire in 1996.
1/30/2010 2:08:26 AM
well, that's pretty fucking awesome, since it was released in 2000.i dont understand the hate, tho. Gnutella was the most popular P2P network in late 2007, barely 2 years ago. it still has a sizeable share. y'all act like its the Windows ME of filesharing.
