no matter what Toby Keith tells you, just because you drive a lifted truck and have ridiculously huge tires doesn't mean you can do Mach 3 down the road in the ice, you still have to stop assholes. Ive seen like 4 big trucks in the ditch. i award them no points and god have mercy on their soul..

I was driving around this morning and I was pretty amazed at the amount of front wheel drive, 4 door sedan type vehicles that were out and doing over 30 mph.

I have a 4x4 jeep and I was driving under 30 the whole time. Getting passed by Honda civics is not my idea of safe.

no shit my roommate's gf literally just asked me if i wanted to go riding around in their jeep.

yeah i actually do want to get stuck in a ditch or hit by some other retard who doesn't know how to drive. thats exactly what i wanted. driving around in the mud at your parents field in the middle of bumfuck is one thing, but i don't fuck with asian women on their cell phones.

Crazy kids. Chances are, if they bought their own big trucks and ridiculously huge tires, they wouldnt be out there trying to wreck their shit. Sometimes I wish I could invent a zero friction gun so I could make people spin out and wreck when they are trying to fish-tail around turns in my apt. complex...new life goal.

We had to make a grocery store run..........and while we were out we decided we must go the extra mile for a starbucks run. Fiance in his jeep in 4 wheel drive going 15 mph and this Jetta soared past us going 30+. We decided to head back home. Counted 10 cars and 1 wrecker in the ditches in that 1 mile.

From last night: Just because you 6 lights mounted to the top of your jeep, does not mean you need to have them on with your fog lights and high beams, when it isn't even snowing. Jackass.

The nice thing about the Evo is it still stops on a dime in snow/ice with my studless snow/ice tires.

but yeah the people in the trucks and SUVs crack me up.

haha I drove by someone like that yesterday and it wasn't even dark out it was mid afternoon. Some redneck asshole in a dodge pick up truck had all his roll bar lights on, brush guard lights on, fog lights, headlights and high beams. I thought he was trying to warn me of immanent danger ahead or something

I drove out to grocery store this morning... roads were pretty good. A little slick where there was shade, but small enough patches that I could regain some traction a few feet forward.

I cant get over how much grip your car had in those conditions. I think i may have found some 4x100 steel rims for cheap. I dont know how much ground clearance i can get if i jack my coilovers to max ride height....but....we should at least try to rally cross it .

I just drove back to Portsmouth, VA from Raleigh today. The roads weren't that bad. I was amazed by the assholes tailgating me for going 40 on the snowy parts of the highway, though. Usually it was an SUV or a jacked up truck.

I'm driving a shitty ass 2wd open differential jeep cherokee in that shit with nearly bald tires. No way in fuck am I taking more risks than I have to.

Saw a guy fishtail his pickup straight into a ditch from about 50mph. That was impressive. He was OK and had a cellphone, so we all went on our way.

P-town is also covered in ice, and it looks like I have to make the dangerous 1.4 mile commute to work tomorrow. I'm sure I can do it, but I'd still like a day off so I can do some laundry.

I am down with that! I really want to go to the next Rally-X but its on valentines day

I also need to pick up a set of wheels so i don't put too many miles on my winter tires when its warm/dry out.

I've been driving my Accord all over, no more than 20 MPH. I was coming into my neighborhood and some asshole in a dodge durango decided to go flying by me. He got past me, slammed on his brakes as he approached the curve, spun out and slammed into the curb. It was very satisfying.

Granted, I did have snow chains and they pulled like a mofo. Made me all

i got tailgated on avent ferry by a girl in a hyundai sonata.

if i have aggressive ass offroad tires and am going 25 or so, that should be a clue that you probably need to slow down, you dumb broad.

the fact that they are 'aggressive ass offroad tires' means next to nothing on snow/ice...part of the traction of snow/ice tires is from the compound used.

tires with an aggressive tread pattern will run circles around a tread pattern designed for clear roads, regardless of rubber compound. you're not going to get grip if your tread is packed full of ice and won't clear themselves.

with that being said, all-terrains aren't an agressive tread pattern.

Quote :

the tires in which I am referring to are not designed for clear roads. Snow/ice tires get the most traction in colder temperatures. Tread pattern means next to nothing on dry pavement, thats when your compound take effect. Just like when driving on sheets of frozen ice your aggressive off road tread patterns mean nothing because there is nothing to offset. Thats when the colder compounds kick in and provide grip.

I wasn't talking directly to you. a lot of people think all-terrain tires are an aggressive tire pattern.

regardless, the tread pattern is still going to have a huge impact on the traction you get on the ice and snow. Ice tires have lots of square lugs with lateral slits in them to cause pressure points on the ices. They're similar to a mud tire, except the voids aren't as big. There's a reason why both tires make a roaring sound while you're driving down the road.

They do pretty well in the snow/slush that we had. On ice, anything will slide all around. But I still wasn't driving fast or like an idiot on the roads. Except for some backroads with no houses/mailboxes/other cars driving

Thats why I love my blizzaks. They have an insane amount of grip on ice unless of course you are intentionally power sliding.
