This is how I know I'm maturing. I read this thread and immediately thought about people slipping and falling and dying or being paralyzed or suffering brain damage or being in a wheel chair for 6 months, developing a weight problem or an opiate dependency or clinical depression...

But four years ago, I woulda been like, "Hell yeah, let's do it! And just in case the police catch us, let's make sure we're all belligerently drunk and in possession of controlled substances!!! WOOT WOOT!"

I think the majority of folks are lucky throughout their adolescence, and they don't end up with a lot of consequences for their dumbassery. But some of us take it to another level or we're more visible or we're unlucky, and we get fucked...the consequences always apply to us...and it's not something I look back on romantically.

My friends are like, "Remember when you blah, blah, blah...that was awesome!" But, for me, it was not awesome to be out of control and constantly in trouble and at the mercy of judgmental adults who couldn't wait to put me down for being threatening to them. It sucked.

I'm still true to me, but it's nice to be myself without hurting other people or having to go court.

I'm happy about maturing, and he's trying to say that I'm dying inside, and I'm saying it's pretty easy to romanticize adolescent hijinks when you're not the one suffering all the consequences all the time.

Perhaps you should add this to the thread you made about me blowing...things out of proportion. Ending the thread title with the word "blowing" was great because it let people criticize me for blowing things out of proportion and being a cock-sucking whore. Good stuff on your part!
