so I currently have AT&T, i think i'm gonna switch over to verizon

my parents have verizon, they say they can add me on their family plan and it would only cost $9.99/mo. I'm currently paying $61/mo for my own plan, so we're talkin $50 in savings here, not to mention i wouldn't use any minutes calling my family since we'd all be on teh same plan, and all my friends are on teh plan as well. Plus i'm told i get to keep my phone number which is nice

anybody here have verizon at all? do you like it?

I'm told i have to get a new phone, was thinking of getting the new droid phone. Any rec's?

VZW TS/CS sucks and most are idiots. Cell service is fine & have the most people in network. The extra line may cost you $9.99, but what about texting & data?

my sister has the motorolla android and she pays an extra $29.99 for texting/data/the works, so total she's paying $40/month.

that's still $20 cheaper than what i'm paying, but really $60 cheaper cause my parents said they'd pay for it

i like the sim card aspect of it. i like being able to have my basic contacts still on the sim card and barring card destruction, being able to use any phone i please and not having to call and get the IMEI or whatever switched on the account.

at&t has shitty service and reception in a few places while verizon does not, but the fact that it's so easy to use a replacement phone and keeping your contacts on the card makes me happy.

i still might switch, but that won't be for a while.

yeah, you'll end up with 9.99+ 29.99 for data on the droid so 39.98. Texting, insurance etc would be extra. The droid has it's quirks but is a good phone.

the lady said the biggest complaint of the droid is battery life. I'm gonna see how bad it is and if i dont' like it ill trade in for something else, i have 30 days

The battery life on the motorola droid isn't that bad. Now the HTC Droid Eris is another story. I'm in the process of trying to blow up my phone by clocking it to 1Ghz from 550.

I'm considering doing this same thing, but from verizon(alltel, actually) to sprint. Sprint doesn't use sim cards, right? What do they charge to activate a phone?

[Edited on February 1, 2010 at 5:54 PM. Reason : Verizon coverage is exceptional. Their people are horrid.]

just came from Verizon to Sprint. I must say that sprint has solid service, but Verizon is clearly stronger signal.

Switching should be free, particularly if you have your own phone. Texting and data? You'll pay top dollar in big red, but you'll get it fast everywhere... even in most basements and crazy stuff where i drop to just voice on sprint.

I'd go get an eris on craigslist and take it to the store and tell 'em you want unlimited texts and data on yo' plan.

Verizon probably has the best service, but agreed as far as billing problems. The most recent was in our favor so no complaints here

^I'm sure your next bill will come and they will have "corrected" that by taking away the extra and adding on some extra fees.

any android phone/person with gmail knows this problem is 100% extinct. i've never even entered any contact info on my phone as it's the same as my gmail contacts.

you can wipe the phone to factory defaults and have it back to 200 contacts the way you want it in less than 2 min, i tried it.
