... for sex trafficking and related charges

Quote :
"LITTLE ROCK—United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, Jane W. Duke, and Thomas J. Browne, Special Agent in Charge of the Little Rock Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced today that Everett Cooney was sentenced by United States Chief Judge J. Leon Holmes to 90 months' imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release on a federal charge of sex trafficking an underage female.

At his plea hearing on July 10, 2009, Cooney admitted he knew an underage female with the initials of “DB” was between the ages of 14 and 18 when she was caused to engage in commercial sex acts and that Cooney benefitted from her engaging in the commercial sex acts. Pursuant to the plea agreement, the pending indictment was dismissed.

Cooney’s co-defendant, Tommy Handy, plead guilty to a charge of sex trafficking on October 23, 2009. Pursuant to the plea agreement, the pending indictment was dismissed. Handy’s plea exposes him to a minimum of 10 years' and up to life imprisonment. He is awaiting sentencing by the court. Handy remains in custody pending his sentencing.

The case is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the Little Rock Police Department. The case was prosecuted by former Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Volpe, Assistant U.S. Attorney John Ray White and Department of Justice Civil Rights Division Trial Attorney Jim Felte."

Yes human trafficking happens everywhere - doesn't make it any less sad... I don't know about you, but the whole topic of sex trafficking disgusts me, no matter how "small" the case. :\

Yeah, it is disgusting. It absolutely is.

But this didn't need a thread. Especially not in chit chat.

Lots of stuff on this site doesn't really need a thread, to be honest.

But thanks for informing me what should go in chit chat and shouldn't. I'll make sure to follow the Ronny Rules next time.

Before making a thread, ask yourself "Would gunzz make a thread about this?"

If the answer is yes, don't make that thread

At least the girl was earning some money. These 14-18 year olds are so quick to give it to anyone for free!

don't get me wrong, i'm not a fan of it. and it's disgusting. But you can call it "human trafficking" all you like, this is still just another dude pimpin' his trailer ho. And it's not as bad as i could have been: it wasnt a baby or a child. the chick was between 14 and 18, old enough to have resources to try and escape.

In any event she got away, and she didn't die, but since you went out of your way to make a thread about it in Chit Chat, i'll try and shed a tear over it if that will make you happy.

meanwhile i'll save my outrage for real tragedies, such as having to see Glenn Beck's stupid face every time i walk past the book section in a grocery store.

For the record - the FBI labeled it human trafficking. So you can stop acting like I'm just being dramatic. I don't care if you shed a tear - you're really not worth the energy in convincing you to do so. However, some people may be interested in stories like this - I posted it in chit chat because I've seen similar stories here. Oh noes!

"Human trafficking is the practice of people being tricked, lured, coerced or otherwise removed from their home or country, and then compelled to work with no or low payment or on terms which are highly exploitative. The practice is considered to be trade or commerce in people, which has many features of slavery, and which is illegal in most countries. The victims of human trafficking can be used in a variety of situations, including prostitution, forced labor (including bonded labor or debt bondage) and other forms of involuntary servitude. "

Sex trafficking is a form of human trafficking, idiot.

^ I have no idea with how the number was that low. :\

the question is, how did he get so much as 7.5 years. the answer is, because this became a federal offence when it crossed state boundaries.

otherwise the guy would have been charged with prostitution at the county or state level, and have probably done a year or two, tops.

Which may be accurate, but which is still pretty sickening when a guy can do longer stretches in that for drug violations.

I know I can come across as sort of a one note guy with this response sometimes, but they ought to give this guy the needle.

no it's not, you dumb little bunny.

if you bothered to read your "wikipedia" quote, you'd see that human trafficking involves kidnapping and enslavement, when people are removed from their home country to become involuntarily enslaved by their captor or purchaser. whether or not it's used for the sexual purposes is secondary.

OTOH, "sex trafficking" (what the guys were charged with) is like "drug trafficking" ... it's simply the providing of sex for profit. just straight up pimpin' by another word.

now I know you're all aghast that some dude pimped out a 15-year-old girl from his trailer in Arkansas. but i hate to tell you shit happens in every city on every day in this fine country.

by that logic, DUI offenders and habitual speeders should also be put to death.

because by the numbers, drunks and habitually aggressive drivers kill people by orders of magnitude more than pimps ever do.

Home OR country.

Not just home country, you stupid fuck.

From the National Human Trafficking Resource Center:

Quote :
"Sex trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery in which a commercial sex act is induced by
force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such an act is under the
age of 18 years. Enactment of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (TVPA) made
sex trafficking a serious violation of Federal law. The TVPA also recognizes labor trafficking,
which is discussed in a separate fact sheet."

I'm done with you, troll.

upset bunny is upset.

you still are having reading comprehension fail. Pimpin is only called "sex trafficking" in federal cases because the "victim is under 18 years old"

oh yeah, i still owe you a tear.

"slave trader" lol. you people and your hyperbole.

hes one pimp out of thousands. he just did it across state lines. probably from West Memphis, AR to Memphis, TN. i know when i lived in Memphis there was a lot of drug trade between those two spots. 10-15 minute drive.

so some dudes got hammered for pimpin their chickie. sucks to be them, because any other place they'd have gotten a year or two. not that i give a fuck, they deserve to be locked away ... but justice is inconsistent.

It will be interesting to have opinions about this..
When Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone: United States -- Muslim 1.0% Australia -- Muslim 1.5% Canada -- Muslim 1.9% China -- Muslim 1%-2% Italy -- Muslim 1.5% Norway -- Muslim 1.8%
At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs: Denmark -- Muslim 2% Germany -- Muslim 3.7% United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7% Spain -- Muslim 4% Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%
From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. They will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. France -- Muslim 8% Philippines -- Muslim 5% Sweden -- Muslim 5% Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3% The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5% Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%
When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions (Paris -- car-burnings) . Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats (Amsterdam - Mohammad cartoons). Guyana -- Muslim 10% India -- Muslim 13.4% Israel -- Muslim 16% Kenya -- Muslim 10% Russia -- Muslim 10-15%
After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning: Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%
At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare: Bosnia -- Muslim 40% Chad -- Muslim 53.1% Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7%
From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels: Albania -- Muslim 70% Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4% Qatar -- Muslim 77.5% Sudan -- Muslim 70%
After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide: Bangladesh -- Muslim 83% Egypt -- Muslim 90% Gaza -- Muslim 98.7% Iran -- Muslim 98% Iraq -- Muslim 97% Jordan -- Muslim 92% Morocco -- Muslim 98.7% Pakistan -- Muslim 97% Palestine -- Muslim 99% Syria -- Muslim 90% Tajikistan -- Muslim 90% Turkey -- Muslim 99.8% 100% will usher in the peace of "Dar-es-Salaam" -- the Islamic House of Peace -- there's supposed to be peace because everybody is a Muslim: Afghanistan -- Muslim 100% Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100% Somalia -- Muslim 100% Yemen -- Muslim 99.9%
