I think the games are relatively the same for both systems. I would say get an xbox360, simply because you'll enjoy the online content much more.

depends on what games you like on a console

ps3 has more free content and a wide variety of games, xbox has more FPS games in general.

ps3 is nice cause it has the ability to do blue ray and the online stuff is free.
but it doesnt have like halo and some of the other games.

xbox360 is nice because the online is better but it costs.
but it now has some of the games ps3 also has

like ace combat 6 is on there and other fps games
i basically play on my computer but i need something to play DVDs on my tv so might as well get a game consol.

I have both, and its a close call. Just don't get a wii unless you prefer flailing your arms around hoping something good will happen to actually playing a game.

if you play a lot of halo or call of duty i'd say go with 360. other than that there's really nothing more advantageous about owning a 360 in my opinion.

I like action/adventure games so that kind of tilts things in favor of the PS3 for me. The uncharted games and infamous are good in that genre, and the last guardian and god of war 3 are coming up and they look awesome.

xbox

^^media streaming and all is ridiculously easy with the 360. I don't know how hard it is with the PS3 but as long as something is in your windows media player library you can stream it on your xbox. online support, the halo series (including halo wars, the only successful console RTS right now), any FPS, Forza, removable HDD, are definite xbox 360 advantages

i've never tried streaming anything to my ps3, so i couldn't tell you either. i've never understood why i would ever have a reason to. i don't think the quality of games released on both consoles is any different except for the fact that you can play them in 1080p on ps3. and i've never understood why having a removable hard drive would be a major advantage.

by the time you buy either console, an extra controller, and some games, you'll have spent as much money as you would if you'd have bought a mail order Russian bride. After you play those video games and beat them a few times, you'll get tired of them. You'll never get tired of beating your mail order bride though.

my second choice would be a PS3.

I've got both. xbox is my fav for gaming... ps3 for some other things like internet browsing& blu-ray & god of war

I might say the PS3 if you could play ps2 games on it, but you can't with any of the new versions

Xbox Live destroys the PS3 online service

If I had to give one up it would be the PS3 ( or the Wii actuallly)

Xbox is the winna - even without blu-ray

You might not, but I have videos and music on my computer I like to watch/listen to on my tv. Xbox makes it really easy for me.

You can do 1080p on a 360 as well.

Same reason a removable battery in the controller is an advantage: if it goes bad, rather that go through Microsoft/Sony for a repair and wait 1-7 weeks for it to come back, I can just go to Best Buy or target or whatever and pick up a new battery or HDD. Or, if I want to go to a friends house and play my rock band DLC but don't wanna lug around my xbox, I can just grab the HDD and go. It's not huge, it's just a nice feature.

Own a 360, want to sell it.

Would like a PS3.

Care little about either, because I built a kickass computer.

Right now I'm leaning towards PS3, since a lot of 360 content ends up on PC anyway (Mass Effect 2), whereas I'll never get my hands on Infamous or Little Big Planet or Heavy Rain... so yea. Honestly I'll probably just sell the 360 and forget about consoles altogether until next generation.
