http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZb0avfQme8So how many of these things are (relatively) a reality today?

Hindsight is 20/20. Anyone can make vague predictions.

the GPS navigation was pretty on targetthe automatic toll thing is true too but way off. plus like 90% of the stuff they predicted i can do with my cell phone now.phone booths are long gone.and they forgot to mention free abortions

phone booths are still good for snitching, drug dealing, soliciting, and adulteryas long as there are motels there will be phone booths

Back to the Future 2 predicted that we'd still be using phone booths in 2015. I'm surprised that cell phones weren't predicted more as it seems like a pretty simple idea to have a portable phone that is small enough to fit in your pocket.

its sad that the only thing we havent done is fucking put medical records on some form of portable/transferrable electronic storage
2/4/2010 5:07:36 PM
^ i dunno, that sounds pretty risky. if there's a hard drive failure with your medical records on it, you'd probably die instantly.
2/4/2010 5:11:35 PM
the great thing is that I remember those ads and remember being excited for stuff like that to get here!

Lack of agreement on standardized medical information formatting is a major problem and contributes to the rising cost of healthcare.Personally I don't think you'd want to carry around your medical info. That's not the kind of thing you want other people getting a hold of.
2/4/2010 5:18:03 PM
whats a phone booth? don't think those have arrived yet. Sounds interesting. Guy on the beach had an ipad.
2/4/2010 5:20:41 PM
Yeah, information asymmetry can be a bitch.
2/4/2010 5:20:53 PM
portable/transferrabledoesnt necessarily have to be like a chip on a card, just encrypted ass shit that can be shared from doctor to doctor
2/4/2010 5:21:26 PM
they did better than these guyshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6pUMlPBMQAit doesn't specify a year but I'm guessing it's supposed to be 1979 or so
2/4/2010 5:30:47 PM
i tucked my baby in a phone boothand ran away

^^it got the urban sprawl dead on.Ha and it looks like it inspired "The Jetsons" cartoon directly with the car-pod, moving sidewalks, etc. [Edited on February 4, 2010 at 5:47 PM. Reason : ]

^^^i can't wait to get my jet car
2/4/2010 5:46:38 PM
near the end the dad programs a route into the car, and it drives him to his location. I was like cool, that's kinda like GPS! but then he used a punch card to do it ...computers are the only thing that changed as wildly as they predicted everything to change, and they have the computer being exactly the same.
