why did no one else step in?

people think guards are super heroes, hell put me in a security suit and give me a two day orientation and im a guard. All i need is a clean background and clean piss. Does that qualify me to stop a public beatdown without being assaulted? Does that qualify me to not be sued for anything that happens after the point that I intervene?

Hell i work the door at a bar, I dont do anything past directing someone to the door. At some of those durham bars you get cats that you know got heat somewhere, dont even fuck with them I (and most of the other doormen in downtown Durham) call dispatch and let them deal with him.

Pretty sure I was a security guard and was trained and authorized to break up fights that noobs would be having....not that shit happened where I worked but I can vouch for one fairly large corporation that doesn't take shit from people fighting on company property.

legally, if you feel fear for the victims life (which wouldn't be hard to justify given the attacker was kicking her while she was on the ground) then you are allowed to do alot more than you think (that is even a time when deadly force can justifiably be used)


although all instructers and cops I've talked to about a scenario say it is still probably best to walk away, because some lawyers could try to fuck ya in the end

^^^ I think those waters are a lot murkier than you think. If I'm not mistaken, it would come down to how people are defining defense of 'self'. Yeah, you would be given some buffer to defend others from being hurt. There's always the very real possibility that you would get reamed in the court room depending on where that line is drawn.
