I'll be moving on from Wachovia Wells Fargo to the SECU in the very near future. Other than ATM availability, there really isn't a viable reason to go with a bank like BOA or Wells over a credit union if you have the option.

Indeed. Banks fucking suck. They're basically a corporate oligopoly... like many other American industries. A law was recently passed banning banks from forcing their overdraft policies on people. Of course, the solution to this should have been for consumers to simply find a bank that didn't do this. (You know, markets, competition, etc.) Since the banking industry is a near oligopoly, the banks could all decide to "scratch each others' back" to the demise of consumer choice. Instead of fixing the market... (making it easier for new banks to come into existence, making it easier for old banks to die forever, and increasing consumer choice -- so that consumers, and not wall street fat cats or the fed, would be directing the evolution of the banking industry) ...we now have additional legislation to address the issue, thereby creating additional precedent for the government to have authority over the banking industry. We should abolish the federal reserve.
