2/27/2010 10:09:00 AM

2/27/2010 10:12:08 AM
8.8 is huge!
2/27/2010 10:24:13 AM
It's in the top 10 in recorded history, where recorded history is since 1900.(source: CNN)It's also 32 x 32 more powerful than the Haitian earthquake. CNN still hasn't figured out how to multiply those two number together.[Edited on February 27, 2010 at 10:27 AM. Reason : ]

Chile also had the largest earthquake in recent history at M9.5 in 1960.Oddly enough, I've been working on a seismicity report for Chile for my Earthquake Engineering class the last couple days.
2/27/2010 12:29:19 PM

2/27/2010 12:35:12 PM

2/27/2010 1:06:08 PM
I'm only being a dick because there's not really a big chance a tsunami will hit much less do any damage.

2/27/2010 1:08:39 PM
^^^^Yall better tell your men to tie on their mountain climbing shoes

2/27/2010 1:10:42 PM
^^^^well you don't really have to be a dick at all. We can be concerned since they are a few thousand miles away. so fuck off.the course he works at is on a cliff, so he will be fine. but its startling to wake up to this on the news[Edited on February 27, 2010 at 1:14 PM. Reason : so, again, fuck off]
2/27/2010 1:13:47 PM
I hope he has his swimmies on

first el nino now this
2/27/2010 1:16:57 PM
well if you're gonna get all bent out of shape about it then you should probably not be on here in the first place. especially when there's absolutely no threat of your SO being in danger. it makes you sound like a whiny bitch
2/27/2010 1:17:08 PM
Dumb alias is dumb.
2/27/2010 1:17:23 PM
2/27/2010 1:19:22 PM

2/27/2010 1:20:40 PM

2/27/2010 1:20:52 PM

2/27/2010 1:21:17 PM
you didn't apologize, you just made a reason for being a dick...but whateves
2/27/2010 1:21:30 PM
look, you don't have to justify being a bitch. i'm just saying it's not cool to be telling random people to fuck off.
2/27/2010 1:27:19 PM
Buoy data: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/dart.shtmlData from buoys 51406 and 32412 show the tsunami (about half a meter).
2/27/2010 1:28:54 PM
about 1.5ft.... doesn't seem that big as a big wide wave in the deep ocean, but should be interesting to see what happens when it hits the shore.
2/27/2010 1:32:25 PM
tsunamis aren't all that tall anyway. The 2004 one just kept coming and was only 1 or 2 feet tall in some of the places it devastated. Somoan one was a bit taller but more of the same.
