http://www.cindascreativecakes.com/This cake maker in Holly Springs did my wedding cake. And she does the thing, where instead of trying to save the top tier of your wedding cake for a year for your anniversary, she just makes you another small cake for your anniversary included in the original price. With my anniversary coming up I had the chance to peruse her cake offerings a little. And for some reason these cakes made me think of tdub. And here is the one she made for me nearly a year ago:And just so that no one is disappointed by the thread title:

I guess every artist has their "ugly" periodthis must have been some of her early work. this cake looks like something a paraplegic could make with a spatula and a piping bag attached to their face
2/28/2010 4:21:48 PM
The black icing is very presentable, but how does it taste?
2/28/2010 4:24:11 PM
probably like any other icing
2/28/2010 4:25:54 PM
Excellent.
2/28/2010 4:27:04 PM
when I used to work as a banquet server, it was always hilarious to see people after they ate cakes with black or purple frostinglips and tongue like a Kenyan
2/28/2010 4:27:21 PM
africans have black tongues?
2/28/2010 4:28:06 PM
i think he's confusing kenyans with giraffes
2/28/2010 4:28:56 PM
giraffes are from africa[Edited on February 28, 2010 at 4:29 PM. Reason : ^haha great minds]
2/28/2010 4:29:12 PM

2/28/2010 4:30:21 PM
I think a lot of the quality depends on how much you pay, and what design you ask for.[Edited on February 28, 2010 at 4:35 PM. Reason : .]

her designs are nicebut her handwriting is pretty crappythe cakes with things written on them look awesome... until you see the writingthe graphing calculator one looks good, i guess because she was looking at one when she made it, or it doesn't apply to numbers
2/28/2010 9:19:43 PM

hahathe "how bout these melons?" cake reminds me of dropdeadkate's gross brown nips
3/1/2010 9:36:20 AM
I like her "traditional" cakes infinitely more than her "creative" ones. Then again that applies across the board with me. I love the idea of a cake that looks like something else, but 99% of the time it either ends up looking amateurish, or it has so much fucking fondant on it that you basically have to unwrap the thing before you can get to any cake that is worth eating.

Peter, I'm holding hooters!
3/1/2010 12:17:01 PM
I didn't know Supplanter was gay...? Anyway, I thought gays couldn't get married? Or did he get married in MA/CA/state that allows gay marriage?
3/1/2010 4:44:30 PM
Enjoy hell, "boys".
3/1/2010 4:45:38 PM
^^I was married in MA. But it isn't just MA/CA with some sort of recognition. Over a quarter of the states in the United States recognize gay marriage, unions, or partnerships. As does Washington DC, and most of the western world. The main anti-gay holdouts are other parts of the US, China, Russia, the middle east, and parts of Africa (except South Africa which recognizes gay marriage countrywide). And the largest employer in the US, the federal government, recognizes spousal benefits for gay marriages. As far as the hold outs in the US, NC is better than most places in the south. We're the only southern state without a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, and one of the few southern states with any pro-gay laws on the books. We were the first state in the south to elect an openly gay official, we've had several cities with openly gay mayors, county commissioners, other officials from local up to General Assembly Senator. We recognize hospital visitations. And we have a judge rule in favor of gay adoption in one case in NC not that long ago. Even Raleigh's mayor was speaking a big gay rights event in Raleigh over the weekend.Atlanta isn't so bad for gays, but Georgia as a whole isn't too fond of them, and Florida isn't so bad either, but neither of those states or any others in the South come close to NC on statewide protections. Visiting Europe is no problem, but gay couples have to be careful what states they go to in the US. One lesbian couple I heard about went on a cruise vacation with their kids, but one of them got extremely sick, so they had to dock in Florida which doesn't have the same level of hospital visitation allowances. They had all the civil union documents on hand, but the state wouldn't accept them, and as the woman died slowly over a period of like 24 hours the kids and her wife weren't allowed to visit or say goodbye, and instead were stuck in the lobby waiting until she died without ever seeing her again. So my marriage might not be fully recognized here in NC, but it gets a lot more recognition in small town NC, than it gets in backwoods places like big cities in Florida.

^ thanks for posting that. i didnt know nc had those provisions in placeand as for that couple in florida, totally shitty. hospitals aren't exactly on lockdown, i would have snuck in or something crazy if that was my situation!
