A groundskeeper for the country club, which is on Anthony Road, discovered the damage to two fairways in the morning on Feb. 27. A car had driven across fairways 6 and 16, leaving ruts up to a foot deep in places. The car was abandoned in a sand trap near Hole 10, with about two feet of water filling in around it. Police discovered that the 2010 Toyota Corolla is registered to Andrew M. Westerkamp, 19, of Bedford, Mass., a Roger Williams University student who lives right next to the golf course in the Baypoint Inn dorms. Police paid a visit to his dorm at 8 a.m. that Saturday, and found Mr. Westerkamp asleep and difficult to rouse. Mr. Westerkamp told police that his car had been missing, and denied being involved in the incident. But other students reported being with Mr. Westerkamp as he drove the car through the golf course. They said that they tried to pull the car out with a strap attached to a Jeep. When police asked if anyone had been hurt because the windshield was shattered, they said they had jumped on the windshield when the car couldn’t be pulled out. Mr. Westerkamp was charged with vandalism, reckless driving, obstruction, and possession of marijuana. In addition to the marijuana found in his car, police reported that a bag of pot was sitting on a counter in Mr. Westerkamp’s dorm room when they went to speak to him."

My oldest brother did some similar shit with a golf cart back in the day when he was in high school. He and his fellow stoners broke into the cart shack, took a few carts for joy rides on the course and proceeded to drive the carts into a lake to hide the evidence.

Only problem was that the lake was not very deep and the tops of the carts were exposed. He and his buddies never got caught and only years later did he tell me and my other brothers about it.
