who has been photographed with a guitarby whether that guitar is acoustic or electricand/or the model of said guitar (especially if it's the former)
3/5/2010 3:58:25 AM
3/5/2010 3:59:24 AM
i only have my picture taken with acoustics.
3/5/2010 4:01:17 AM
what can you tell about a guy photographed with an 8 string bass
3/5/2010 4:04:43 AM
Example?
3/5/2010 4:07:21 AM
for examplea guy holding a late model epiphone acoustic is not a serious musicianbut he's also not a douchebag who learns how to play five radio hits to help pull tail
3/5/2010 4:09:36 AM
^just described a picture in my gallery, not my guitar though.
3/5/2010 4:12:04 AM
well then tell me if i'm rightif i'm not, i will disown this thread
3/5/2010 4:15:15 AM
Well, the owner of the guitar is a serious musician. I am not, but I play an old alvarez. But if we're just going by photographs, and not actual ownership, then you are right. Now answer my question in the guitar thread.
3/5/2010 4:19:21 AM
You can tell a lot about a person by how they think you can tell a lot about a person
3/5/2010 4:21:09 AM
especially when drunk!
3/5/2010 4:21:45 AM
3/5/2010 4:21:46 AM
So, basically, if you're not playing a high quality guitar, chances are you're not a serious musician?FUCKING DUH, MAN.I play a no name acoustic guitar I got for fifty dollar bucks. Tell me about myself.
3/5/2010 4:26:34 AM
this is the thinga late model epiphone IS a quality guitarit's just not a professional instrumentmost serious musicians have acquired a professional instrument or two at some pointbe it a brand new prs or a les paul junior from the '50s
3/5/2010 4:31:15 AM
the reason this doesn't necessarily apply to people with electricsis that a good amp can make even the worst electric guitar sound goodso the guitar really doesn't say anything other than possibly indicating musical style by way of pickup selection and scale length
3/5/2010 4:33:21 AM
3/5/2010 4:36:26 AM
just because it's a boutique amp doesn't mean it's a good ampand no, a teisco isn't going to sound as good as a junior through a good ampbut if it's a plank that'll stay in tune with a pickup on it, it'll make a serviceable noise which is more than you can say for some cheapie acoustics ]
3/5/2010 4:37:24 AM
i have pictures with my 35-year-old Garcia classicali have pictures with my late-model Martin dreadnought i have pictures with my OG Jackson Performeri have pictures with both my 4- and 5-string bassesi have pictures with my drumseti have pictures with my djembei have pictures with my microphonewhat do these pictures say about me, vinylbandit?

3/5/2010 4:56:38 AM

3/5/2010 4:57:16 AM
the only acoustics i've got are a '66 gibson lg-1 that i kinda don't want any more and a seagull sm6 that i've had for almost 15 yearsit has a huge crack in the top that's opening into a hole and it still sounds lovely ]
3/5/2010 5:04:11 AM
i'll have to admit that jackson is pretty gangsterSD blackouts AHB-1/AHB-2 on neck/bridge and the afterburner on the latter wired to a switch18-volt modfloyd rose bridge/nuttuned to A# with 14-68 (baritone bass) stringsand of course gloss black beveled cutaway with the old-school upturned headstockit's a freaking monstrosityit'll be hanging on my wall, plugged into nothing, and i swear to god it'll feed back when i cut on a lamp or something
3/5/2010 5:07:51 AM
but i played that 35yo nylon string for over a year before I literally ever touched a pick, let alone an electric guitargot them classical roots, yo
3/5/2010 5:17:23 AM
what about late model Washburn D10?[Edited on March 5, 2010 at 9:27 AM. Reason : and the guy playing it is really handsome]
3/5/2010 9:22:25 AM

And I am making generalizations about people and the relationship they have with music based on the things that they own!(I will admit that I agree with this thread a vast majority of the time. There are exceptions, though. One of the best guitarists I know plays a $200 Ibanez that he's completely set up. He does have it running through a Dual Rec, though.)[Edited on March 5, 2010 at 10:46 AM. Reason : half-assed devil's advocate troll?]

3/5/2010 5:38:53 PM
Tell me about me:My main guitar is a Gibson Firebird V ('91 reissue, tobacco sunburst)I also have a purple Stratocaster (Mexican Standard) and a Gretsch Corvette (red, 1960s era--not sure of the exact year)I have one acoustic, a Fender single-cutaway electro-acoustic. Don't remember the model #...it's a mid-range model...prob on the lower side of mid-range, but for the money, I think it sounds and plays really well (and I don't mind carting it around to 3rd-world combat zones)for amps, I have a Peavey Triumph (60w combo...I'd like to sell it), and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I want to get my buddy to wire up something EL84 based (probably single-ended class-A, and I'd build a cabinet for it), just to have something different from my go-to Fender amp. Oh, and I have a little Acoustic amp for my Fender acoustic. For effects, I have a Russian-made Big Muff and a Digitech effects board, but 99% of the time, I play either straight into the amp, or with just my Vox wah.

You're clearly gay.

3/5/2010 8:10:35 PM
I love it, it has as a great blues and dirty jazz tone. but I wish it had reverb and the speaker is lacking in bottom end. sometimes for grins i'll run it into the clean channel of my big amp. it was my first amp, so it also has a certain sentimental value to it.
