i wasn't sure what the rules are on that one...

i image that if I kill it with a trap, not a gun, then it should be OK

Sure, you can do whatever you like as long as you DON'T FUCKING TELL ANYONE ABOUT IT.

You can kill it with a gun, too.

Just not using it as intended.

Probably cheap enough to no risk it with the one in your yard -- it could have disease or just be skinny and/or not delicious.

If I am not mistaken, you do not need a license to kill a rabbit as long as it is on your own property, or you are an invited guest on someone else's property. But if you are planning to shoot it, there are regulations against discharging a firearm within city limits. If you live out in the county, you are probably good to go.

I have tons of fat ones out here. My GF won't let me shoot them though. And even if I did shoot them, I would have no idea how to clean them.

I worked with a guy when I lived in Raleigh that used to shoot squirrels in his yard and eat them. He had a whole freezer full.

You should try to catch it, like last Sunday when you were running around trying to catch Bobby's dog.

^^^ because I want to cook rabbit for dinner and if I can't kill the one in my yard, the only other option is to go to the rabbit carcass stand

For the record, it is completely legal to raise rabbits for personal consumption. However, there may be regulations regarding how they are slaughtered.

"Will you trap and remove wildlife from my property?

No, Wake County Animal Control is not authorized to provide wildlife removal services. By State law, no wild animal may be trapped, except for regulated species during the regular trapping season by licensed trappers, with a depredation permit. A depredation permit is a permit to take wild animals that are causing significant property damage. The permit can be issued to the property owner by a Wildlife Damage Control Agent of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission provides contact information for local licensed trappers, or they may be found using the telephone book."

Sorry, I do not. The permit is free though. I am sure they'd give you one to catch and dispose of a rabbit that keeps eating your plants though (especially if you live in the city limits where you can't discharge a firearm).

Rabbits are delicious.

Preparing them basically involves gutting them and skinning them, similarly to a deer.

It is technically illegal out of season for rabbits.

I miss rabbit hunting...it was awesome.

I'd recommend a .22 over a BB gun. Most BB guns don't have the power to kill a rabbit unless you score a head shot at fairly close range.

^ if done properly, that shit actually works. I caught a squirrel in my backyard like that when I was in middle school. It just takes tons of patience.

i would however recommend eating it in a kitchen or dining room as opposed to the front yard.
