Remember, your voice doesn't project as well on the phone, so you have to speak much louder than you would in person for the other party to hear you.

Remember, this is much more informal than a face to face interview, so feel free to use slang andprofanity. In fact, they interviewer will find it strange if you don't.

Remember, this is your show...if the interviewer is dominating the conversation, feel free to interject. They'll have their chance to talk at the end.

i think the most important key to a phone interview is the # key

make sure you press it a lot during the interview, especially when the interviewer is talking

I always like to pee during a phone interview. And make sure it's at a sit down toilet instead of a stand-up urinal. That way they can hear it going on in the background. Makes you look like a good multi-tasker.

Actually open the interview on the toilet, and ask them to guess what your doing.

If asked something to the effect of "What skills do you possess that set you apart from others?"

immediately mash a bunch of buttons on your phone. There will be a few moments of silence before the interviewer asks what happened. Inform him or her that you have the ability to communicate solely using DTMF tones.

Arrange for your friends and family members to call you during the interview. Every five minutes ask the interviewer to hold so you can take another call.

You'll seem important and well-connected, an asset to any company.

put him on speaker phone and blend up a daiquiri with lots of ice, to let him know you don't have any responsibilities right now and are drinking during the day

offer him one, also, then play it off as a joke, because he's not really there with you

in the same vein as ^^^^, invite a chick (or dude thsailor) over to have sex with you during the phone interview. you will again sound important and well connected, and if you pay the person youre fucking to pretend you have a big dong, the interviewer will picture your dong, putting you in the power position in the interview

My best guy friend, Doc, is a video production manager for a major league baseball team and he wanted to prank a colleague as they were screening job candidates.

He arranged a fake phone interview with me as a potential job prospect. The guys called me and in the interview I hit on Doc non-stop. "You have a deep voice. You sound tall. Are you?" and "I'll do anything it takes to get this job. Anything." and "I'm very good with manual tasks. Great with my hands. Very dexterous."

At the end of the interview, Doc asked me to show him my "portfolio" over drinks that night. I said, "Sure, but I get really horny when I drink."

His colleague freaked out.

Ask him when you can start, right away

and when asked what position you see yourself in, if working at the company, tell him "yours"

Eat an entire bag of chips during the interview. Also, make sure to have very loud rap music playing in the background. They won't be able to turn you down!!!

As a younger man I used to let the potential employer hear bong water bubble and coughing in the background. Then I found my intense coughing could potentially communicate me as a wuss.

To rectify this mistake, make sure to ask about their family. When they engage then tell the interviewer their wife/child/daughter looks very peaceful sleeping right now, then hang up the phone.

100% GUARANTEED TO GET A CALL BACK

any short-term job that you obviously had no intent of staying with can be called a gig, it makes it look like you are valuing this job that much higher.

Just for the record:

I am currently employed and am looking for other positions in the area.
The phone interview went really well IMO. The lady excitedly thanked me at the end of it, asked me when I could start if offered the position, and said she would get back to me by the end of the week. I realize none of these are uncommon at the end of an interview, but she sounded genuine.

The hardest question of the interview was "describe a time when you had a conflict with a manager or colleague. How did you resolve it and what was the result." That's a question that is hard to answer without sounding cliche' and douchey. Anyway I am pretty sure it went well. Thanks for all the suggestions you bunch of assholes.

Not to be a downer* but i've had 4 phone interviews recently where I was told I would definitely be coming in for a face to face and would be a great fit.

0 of those have actually happened.

*I am trying to be a downer because the phone interview I had this afternoon was the worst ever. But, seriously, good luck and I hope you get it.
