Much like unicorns, gnomes, leprechauns and the Loch Ness Monster, I'm going to go with no until either I see one or someone comes up with some verified, credible evidence of their existence.

Is there a ghost in my house?

I used to think my house had a ghost, but I think the constant blasting of Slayer ran him off. My first housemate and I did see some weird stuff though.

I don't think you can be a ghost and not scare anyone.
It's like trying to be a lovable friendly rattlesnake.
You'll just travel the world scaring the shit out of people no matter how nice you try to be.

I believe in the possibility of ghosts and other spiritual beings, like angels and demons. Never seen anything myself, but I have several friends that I whole heartedly trust who claim to have seen ghosts. I tend to follow the theory that spiritual beings exist in a separate dimension. So we are all here on the same earth, we just can't see them because the human senses can only perceive so much. Just because we can't always see or hear something, doesn't necessarily mean it's not there. This theory also claims that the ghosts and UFO's seen by humans are actually separate spiritual beings (angels or demons). Nearly every major religion on Earth and many smaller religions all began with stories of other worldly beings appearing on earth and interacting with humans. Even the bible tells of fallen angels being banished to Earth and earthly angels being sent back and forth to keep things in check. The oldest civilizations on our planet all share the same stories and beliefs. In the Christian faith, much of this is described in the book of Enoch which was written around the time of Noah and goes along with the Old Testament. It's all very cool stuff that ties together religion, history, science and faith. Check out David Icke on youtube or google. He is a major researcher into this theory and gives some great presentations. Not saying that this is all true, but it is a very interesting theory that makes a lot of sense.

well my friend's sister's ghost likes to open the deadbolted front door when she's home (she lives alone).....run the shower randomly.....the best is after my friend's sister's cat died, she came home to find that her ghost had stolen all the doorknobs off the bedroom and bathroom door in her room and hid them somewhere in the house. these are the kind that you have to unscrew. my friend said her sister found one...buried in the bottom of some bag in the back of her closet randomly.

the most recent thing the ghost did was take a bag of those chocolate robin's eggs that were in a bowl in the middle of the kitchen table and throw them all over the floor in the house and stomp on some of them.

apparently my friend's sister's friend saw the ghost one night coming down the stairs and says she looks like a young girl who was wearing a black hoodie.

With the incredibly advanced scientific technology that we have today, where we can fucking photograph the surface of quarks, don't you think if there was a way to communicate with human beings after death that there would be more invested in it than two fucking douchebags on a reality show on the SyFy channel?

i don't think i believe in ghosts even though APPARENTLY they exist at my beach house (who knew)

i will say that using my mom's ouija board from back in the day in my beach house in the dark is spooky but i'm like 99.9% sure it is just my mind playing tricks (i mean the wind blows so hard it shakes the house sometimes it is hard not to be creeped)

I had a horrible experience with a Ouija board when I was 12. My friend was inhabited by a bad spirit and tried to kill the other girls at her birthday party with a long kitchen knife. For reals.

I never claimed that it was true. I just said it makes sense and it's possible. It's possible that ghosts exist, it's possible that UFO's and aliens exist, it's possible that god and angels exist. It is really easy to not believe in something. It's much harder to keep your mind open and try to contemplate things that are hard for the human mind to fathom.

My favorite part about ghosts is how they're all clothed. Are they still body-conscious? Is there some kind of afterlife mall they all go to? All the clothes free or do they make $ for each haunting?

I'm gonna be a naked ghost...run around a shake my naked boobs in people's faces....

The outcome of this experience for these people will depend on the state of my body at the time of my death...or if I a given an opportunity of which body of my past that I could use to haunt in I would go to my 14 year old body.

One night at about 12:30 I hear my mom scream, and then footsteps running down the hall and down the stairs. I open up my door see what happened and she's just sleeping there in bed. I poke my head down the stairs and hear what sounded like random little objects being picked up and put down. Next morning my mom didn't know what I was talking about.

I believe that a lot of ghostly phenomena has some very real world explanations -- such as low frequency sounds producing feelings of unease, unbalance, and threatening presences. There is so much sensationalism and pseudo-science out there when it comes to investigating the paranormal that it's difficult to believe any of it.

That said, I do believe in the possibility of ghosts and other spirits. I am also intrigued by the concept of "stone tape," a proposed explanation for hauntings.

I realize this thread is about ghosts....which I do not dispute. Hear me out, maybe I can offer some insight.

I am in outside sales, which is currently salary+commission, but will move into straight commission starting at the beginning of July 2010. I have been in this position since July 2009. I have competition from several direct manufacturing sales reps, large distributors, and local distributors. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of each:

Direct Advantages: Immediate knowledge of new technology, no middle man mark up, one shipping bill (paid by manufacturer or buyer of goods), access to larger range of non-commodity items, control inventory, have access to many distributors that can effectively sell their goods which increases market share, and set prices of commodity they manufacture.

Direct disadvantages: Typically have 1-3 sales reps per region (i.e. southeast, mid-atlantic, northeast, etc.) limiting the number of accounts they can successfully manage/cold-call, lack physical customer service or physical technical service available to or affordable for smaller users or altogether, are sometimes not trustworthy because they will go in behind their distributors that sell their commodity to one account in large quantities (i.e. they missed a big account, and have found out about it through a distributor selling their particular product) which leads to the distributor not selling their product anymore, have too many distributors selling the product ultimately driving the set price down through deviations, possibly rely on distributors to actually sell the product, and competition from other direct sources.

Large distributor advantages: have access to other commodities that go hand in hand with other manufacturers (poor example- grocery stores sell milk as well as cereal), get direct pricing, many locations regionally or nationally easing the shipping burden of buyers with multiple locations, personal service either customer or technical, many sales reps that are able to cover a broader territory, access to multiple manufacturers of the same commodity allowing to keep prices in check, service programs that smaller companies can't offer and direct providers can't match in price or value, and experts of many many commodities as opposed to one or a few.

Large distributor disadvantages: smaller local distributors creating price wars (think Michael Scott Paper Co vs Dunder-Mifflin), direct mfg's going in behind and stealing business, limited access to all of the mfg's (you won't find Harris Teeter name brands in Food Lion and visa versa), can't truly set prices because it's based on both supply and demand, territory management, and tough growth prospects in slower economies (this is true for direct as well really)

Local distributor advantages: Typically a good ol' boy setting where the seller and the buyer know each other for years (this does happen at all levels, but mostly at the local level), local folks are right down the street and can be used in emergencies, if the local guy buys at high enough volumes then there is no shipping charge to the end user, and access to both direct mfg's and large distributors.

Local distributor disadvantages: easily beaten in price, array of commodities, array of technology, lack of trained staff, low cash flow, etc etc etc.

This is what I have noticed in my six months, I am sure there are plenty more that need mentioning. The way I am setting myself apart as a sales person is this: I go after the big accounts right now while I am new. The big accounts, if I land them, will take care of me while I am new and building a customer base. The money made off of those allows me to focus free time on smaller accounts that get me higher margins. I build up big accounts, I would like to have 5-10 of these, then get 20-30 medium accounts. If I lose 1 or 2 big accounts, the 20-30 medium accounts keep me afloat while I go after new big accounts. I don't really waste time on small accounts simply because they basically pay for breakfast or something really small.

I will say this, if you can't get a big account in the first 6-8 months (assuming you have cash flow that you can ride this long) you could be in a world of trouble. If you can get one, it will really make going after the others a lot more enjoyable and less stressful. It's simply just very exhausting wasting any time on anything other than big accounts in the very beginning. You work just as hard on the medium sized accounts and see 1/3 to 1/36 of the money in my situation.

If you have any other questions, you can PM me. I hope this helps in the slightest!

Technically I have to be agnostic to all non-falsifiable supernatural entities like ghosts, but in practice I'm aghostic (don't believe). I am open to changing my mind if ever presented with conclusive evidence or a first hand experience. Until then, the short answer is no.
