I believe if there's a fatality involved they stay on the scene for a long time to figure out exactly what happened. Not sure how that varies by state. Regardless, this is gonna be a problem for a long time today.

Honestly, how can you say that traffic will STILL be bad at Harrison? The freeway will be empty from all traffic except what can get on at Aviation and Harrison, as opposed to what usually comes through, which is everyone heading east from RTP and Durham. Also don't forget its spring break for schools (which for some reason always makes traffic lighter)

Your definition of "fucked" is a little off. I drive that every afternoon, and usually the only place traffic backs up is at the interchange with 147...which you can take anyway if you're trying to get to 85.

^x7 Like I said, you must not travel often. For some reason I seem to always hit stop and go traffic on 40 west.

The only times I've found it to be fine is from 12:00 PM to before 4:00 PM. I haven't traveled on it before 12:00 PM, so I can't attest to it.

this is a good point cause i happened monday, where the backhoe fell off earlier today, was the same spot a tractor trailer rearended a car monday on 40E, someone rubber-necking then caused an accident on the otherside (40W), but luckily it was right before where the on ramp is so i had clear lanes to get to work!

and merbig is right i get stuck on 40W going home sometimes but by stuck i mean by someone going 60/65 ( the speed limit) in both of the two lanes and i cant get around them , but def not bumper to bumper
