3/31/2010 3:21:16 PM
it's gotta be hard as fuck to park that shit
3/31/2010 3:21:37 PM
What is that supposed to be for? I don't see very many guns.
it's a littoral combat ship
3/31/2010 3:22:39 PM
EMCE is just hating because his company's rival made this one[Edited on March 31, 2010 at 3:23 PM. Reason : x]
3/31/2010 3:22:48 PM
And I can see it clearly in the picture, so it can't be a stealthy.
3/31/2010 3:23:21 PM
built for speed/stealth
3/31/2010 3:23:50 PM
clittoralcombatship

3/31/2010 3:25:38 PM
^^^ So it's a Klingon ship or Romulan ship?[Edited on March 31, 2010 at 3:26 PM. Reason : .]
3/31/2010 3:26:01 PM
are ships are more phallic than yours are
3/31/2010 3:26:15 PM
didn't the starship enterprise have a cloaking device? i mean maybe the us military stole the technology or some shit
3/31/2010 3:26:47 PM
now how long before Cruise Liners look like this?
3/31/2010 3:27:58 PM
^^ they stole one at one point or another. and then they developed their own.[Edited on March 31, 2010 at 3:28 PM. Reason : BD buttin']
3/31/2010 3:28:13 PM
No ship that small has a cloaking device. [Star Wars nerdiness rebuttal]
3/31/2010 3:29:48 PM
^^^^ I don't recall them having one, but I'm sure Optimum knows more about it than I. I'm pretty sure the Defiance had one.[Edited on March 31, 2010 at 3:30 PM. Reason : .]
3/31/2010 3:29:51 PM
3/31/2010 3:30:53 PM
ahahahahaha
3/31/2010 3:31:27 PM
3/31/2010 3:38:37 PM
^^^ LOL
3/31/2010 3:39:26 PM
about the guns:yeah, it's basically the ugly side of the Navy wanting to create a very advanced ship. Long story short, levying the requirements that they did (stealth, speed, size, etc...) means that the ships don't have very many guns. The critics of the ships have said "...and now you end up with a ship that meets requirements, can do a lot of missions... but not very well"
3/31/2010 3:47:46 PM
U MAD? cause theirs looks more badass than yours.
3/31/2010 3:51:26 PM
a little
3/31/2010 3:54:28 PM
EMCE FYI i used to work for PEO Ships right around the time they cancelled LCS-3 and LCS-4
3/31/2010 4:06:15 PM
ahh, makes sense. yeah, there's a lot of turbulence regarding these. Navy can't make up their damn mind.
3/31/2010 4:15:31 PM
that ship is still a bad mo-fo. You don't have to be armed to the teeth to get a job done right. And someone has to push the envelope, might as well be us. Would much rather get 100 of these and have 'em floating around doing nothing than free healthcare for e'rebody.
3/31/2010 4:17:00 PM
3/31/2010 4:50:49 PM
do you like my quasi-futuristic ship mr. powers?
3/31/2010 4:51:40 PM
lol it's not free health care it's mandatory health careFUCKIN NOOB
3/31/2010 4:54:54 PM
3/31/2010 5:02:30 PM
I can somewhat agree with that. Hopefully, they will truly use these as prototypes. After this phase, they will very closely re-examine the requirements... and then derive more realistic requirements from that. Then eliminate a contractor from the competition, and award a contract to the remaining competitors to develop an iteration of the ships under the new requirements. Then the contractors will go back to work, develop new ships, where the winner of that competition will ultimately go on under contract to build the actual fleet.
3/31/2010 5:08:37 PM
Whatever you say about its lack of guns, it is pretty cool. They made a lot of advances in naval stealth technology.
3/31/2010 5:12:34 PM
guns on an Naval vessel are outdated. I'm sure that thing can be equipped with a fuckload of tomahawk cruise missile launchers. besides, what use are conventional guns going to be when we start arming our battleships with the railgun systems that are currently in development at Dahlgren?
3/31/2010 5:21:22 PM
It may or may not be assumed that these ships would be accompanied by a mother vessel
3/31/2010 5:23:15 PM
oh god, don't let jeff goldblum near the mothership
3/31/2010 5:26:20 PM
3/31/2010 5:35:09 PM
3/31/2010 5:37:17 PM
3/31/2010 5:43:30 PM
that gun on the front would look pretty fucking big if you were a pirate in a dinghy
3/31/2010 5:45:50 PM
im more interested in what looks to be a triple hull design
3/31/2010 6:09:09 PM
allows it to be in shallower waters with the same stability
3/31/2010 6:11:55 PM
My dad was talking about this earlier...something about those things on the side being hydroplanes or something...fuck if I know, I generally tune him out when he starts talking about work and shit
3/31/2010 7:59:29 PM
I bet it’s a LOT better than the USS Freedom.
