Who else sleeps in the hottest room of the house?

It's that time of year again when you go into your room and wanna die because it's so hot even when the rest of your house is nice a cool.

What do y'all do to help cool down your room, besides the fan and an open window?

Both of the bedrooms in my apartment are upstairs, and both are significantly warmer than downstairs.

I just rely on the A/C

AC doesn't do shit for me...

It's crazy, it seems like no matter where I live I always pick out the room that gets the hottest in the summer, and even if the rest of the house is cool it's always a significant different between my room and the rest of the house.

I have the hot room. I pay less rent (only because of size not because I was a dumbass and didn't think about the sun's positioning or distance from shitty AC). I'm usually just forced to leave the door open and use a ceiling fan.

You can check the temperature at the closest vent to your unit and compare it with the one in your room and also get measurements in front of the system's fan and behind it. The energy guy at GUC was telling me it's usually because of shitty duct work or underpowered circulation fan. But basically I just live with it.

close the vents in the rooms you don't use or don't need to be colder, like the bathrooms..

OMG ME.

HATE that room... I've debated seriously about finding a used window unit, but I'm not sure how the landlords would take a $100 ac unit hanging out of their $200K house

I had the hot room when I was living with two girls who were way more cold natured than I was. That didn't go over very well. Now I think I have the warmest room of my apartment but the difference is pretty small.

It really sucks for me because I can NOT sleep with my bedroom door open, and then during the day I can't leave it open because the animals will sneak in my bedroom and tear it up...

and wtf wind outside...earlier you were blowing like crazing and making it all cold and shit but now I'm burning up and you stopped!

I have this problem. I have to open my window around midnight and set up a fan to draw in cool air. My room is usually the hottest in the apartment because one window faces east and my two bigger windows face south, none of which have overhangs. So, the room heats up mad fast and is generally 5 degrees F warmer than the rest of the house. If I stay in the room for most of the day, it can feel like 10F! Opening my door helps some, but not as much as I'd think.

me!! my master is over the garage with a westward facing window (which is actually 3 windows taking up almost the entire wall)

the rest of the house is fine, cool and comfortable even without the AC running (and 80/81 read on the thermostat)

my bedroom feels like 100 degrees. so i run the ceiling fan & box fan at night. this keeps me comfortable even with my down comforter, which i admit is stupid but it helps me fall asleep fast and i end up kicking it off halfway through the night anyway

it also helps that the box fan is pointed DIRECTLY at my bed.. i also close vents to the other 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom in my house and keep those doors closed. havent used my AC or heat for about... 4-6 weeks now. hoping i can hold off a little longer. cant open the windows bc the pollen is out of fucking control right now

I, too, have the hot room. It only has one vent, the farthest away from the AC unit, and I have way too much stuff in it (computer, mini-fridge). The rest of the house has to be 65 in the summer for it to be 75.

Hmm, that reminds me....I have to point the fan at my legs or somewhere below my waist. If I point it near my head to cool faster, I wake up with terrible groggy throat! Not fun

Took me a good week to figure out the ideal configuration of the fan

Just get a room on the north side of the house.

You know, away from the sun...

somehow I always get the opposite. I have the coldest room in the house. As a kid, in the winter I would wear snow pants and winter jackets to bed. But now I realize that the best solution is to not sleep alone

I actually do have a north facing room. However you can't always have the option.

I am the type of person who enjoys sleeping in a cold room so I have to be bundled up in blankets when I sleep. The hot room makes it hard for me.

d6 you sleep with your door closed? That has a lot to do with why the room is hot.

Actually, if you are upstairs and have good air conditioning outputs in your room, you are probably better off with the door closed. Otherwise all the cold air will naturally seep downstairs.
