and we have a family scholarship

duke represents everything that state does not - NJ and other Northeast assholes looking for a college in the south so they can spend four years of their life not living in arguably the most horrible place on the planet. well my family (durham natives) were big duke contributers back in the day

so

it def has some southern roots.

its a private school. even elon has a GINORMOUS population from the north (PA etc). obviously the student body is going to be a lot different than a state school

trust me, unless you make over 300K a year, the city kinda sucks.

Everywhere else in the Northeast absolutely sucks. Bad traffic, shit roads, high prices, cold weather, assholes everywhere. At least in the city you expect this, but there is plenty to do.

I don't really hate dook all that much. I hate the students there more than I hate their sports teams. But i never really have to encounter their students, alumni, or fans, so they just don't bother me that much.

Whereas with UNC, I constantly run into their fans, alums at starbucks, and students. They are all douchebags. I also hate their sports teams.

I hate UNC.
