I'm actually going to take some gun safety courses and purchase a firearm this summer/next year because of TWW. I haven't done anything with guns since I was like 11.
4/7/2010 1:52:25 AM
^because of tww?
4/7/2010 1:53:14 AM
ya he hates it here
4/7/2010 1:53:39 AM
^^I've read so much in every gun thread that it's made me very interested in owning guns. My nerdiness with electronics is refocusing on firearms.
4/7/2010 1:54:35 AM
nerds and guns dont mix. let me guess you want a sniper rifle
4/7/2010 1:56:14 AM
^Sure they do, it explains TWW's fanaticism with guns.
4/7/2010 1:57:22 AM
i actually got interested in guns from playing call of duty, but that probably not a good way to be introduced to guns
4/7/2010 1:59:46 AM
I have 2 handguns. Going to go shoot them tomorrow morning.
4/7/2010 2:20:37 AM

lol @ illegal guns. those look like .22LRs and .223, small caliber rifles good for small game/varmit and smaller. great for target shooting as well. there is nothing illegal about them and they are no more dangerous than their tradition hunting style rifles. get off the "scary gun" bandwagon; it's just plain dumb and the same shit over and over again (those are military style guns! OMG, guess what, almost every gun stems from a military firearm! bolt actions were scoffed at; semi-autos were scoffed at; and the list goes on).
4/7/2010 6:10:00 AM
if I say zero guns, does that mean you'll come rob my house?
4/7/2010 6:35:20 AM
I have a 9mm. Anyone who fears inanimate objects has major issues. The only gun control I believe in is using two hands.[Edited on April 7, 2010 at 7:09 AM. Reason : dtrynhj]
4/7/2010 7:08:48 AM
^^I'm pretty sure that last one is 9mm... could be wrong thoughbut yeah- nothing illegal about those gunsAND YES I KNOW, THIS IS JUST ANOTHER TROLL THREAD- JUST DIDN'T WANT ANY PASSERBY'S TO BE CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT IS LEGAL AND WHAT ISN'T

This is very important for people to know and even if the OP was trolling others need to know this.
4/7/2010 9:34:15 AM
I'll hopefully be getting a shotgun this summer since I'm most likely living by myself this coming year
4/7/2010 9:34:32 AM
YAY!!!!! That is a great choice samwise, as long as you know how to shoot them and are aware of the recoil (ie - if you haven't tried one yet, try it because 12 gauge shotguns can be brutal in terms of recoil and some people have trouble with them). Depending upon what kind of capabilities you want you might be stuck with a 12ga, HOWEVER, I would suggest a 20ga for people of smaller stature. You have half the recoil and muzzle blast but 2/3 the power and trust me, at close range a 20ga buckshot load will still be fatal. Again, 20 gauge is no joke. This is a 20 gauge buckshot load fired into ballistics gelatin from about 10 feet.]
4/7/2010 9:39:47 AM
Word... I'll let you know what I decide to do... when melanndelyn was doing her firearm training I saw her bruises from the recoil but I think I can handle it
4/7/2010 9:41:34 AM
I own several. A Sig P229 .40 pistol, .22 pistol, 3 rifles, 3 shotguns.
4/7/2010 9:45:29 AM
^^ Check the picture I just posted of the 20ga action son, cause I put it up after you posted. Either way, 12ga or 20ga, if you score a direct hit at close range they're done. I'm so excited for you! I recommend the Mossberg 500 series of shotgun for reasons of ergonomics. I own a 9-shot Mossberg 590 with ghost ring sights (It's a bit big for your intended use though, I'd go for an 18" barrel Mossberg 500 in 20ga). ]
4/7/2010 9:49:02 AM
I own four firearms. 1 rifle, 1 shotgun, 2 handguns (1 revolver, 1 auto)
4/7/2010 9:51:09 AM
^^you summed up what I was trying to say earlier pretty nicely, son

this is not what the founding fathers had in mind when they typed the 2nd amendmentthis crap is not necessary for self defense, i say we go back to single shot muskets so we can have the best of both worldspersonal safety and minimal damage from lunatics

despite your best attempts at trolling, this has turned into a legit thread
4/7/2010 12:32:07 PM
I've never been a huge fan of H&K pistols. Now, I'm not saying they suck, because they don't. But they're rather expensive (I think a lot of what you're buying is the name personally), more complex than Glocks and have an unusual battery of arms. The mag release really bothers me, I don't like guns that make big changes in the way something is done because it can confuse you if you use a different gun for some reason or if you're used to a different gun and you switch over to an H&K.The thing I love about Glock is that nobody has really managed to beat their original design to this day. A few have been able to essentially match it, but even then they don't have the 20+ year track record that a 9mm Glock does. The advantages to a Glock:- Low weight (You'll be hard pressed to find a single competitor of the same size and capacity that beats a Glocks weight while offering good reliability and performance)- Extreme reliability- Excellent track record- Extremely simple battery of arms- Excellent pricing for what you're getting- Solid accuracy- Wide range of factory sighting options- Excellent aftermarket- Extensive availability of 33rd factory magazines (9mm)- Availability of +2 baseplates, which gives 19+1rd capacity in the Glock 17.- Excellent trigger considering it's not DA/SA, particularly with Glock 34 connector. Also, it's consistent because it's not DA/SA.- Small sizes offered (The Glock subcompacts are unmatched in terms of size for their magazine capacity and are pretty much just as accurate and definitely just as reliable as the full sized versions), magazines are interchangeable from larger to smaller frames within a given caliber (Exception - Glock 36).- The only truly stout, highly reliable 10mm Auto Pistols on the market IMO.Yes, other guns do well at other things, but almost none combine all of the characteristics of a good Glock. Sigs are great and have better triggers, but they're significantly heavier and a bit bulkier than Glocks. The S&W M&P is a pretty good alternative with better ergonomics, but they still don't have the solid track record of Glock and no subcompact variants are offered. The XD is decent, but a LOT bulkier than a Glock. The subcompacts are downright massive compared to a subcompact Glock. ]
