Yeah, I'm going to agree with vinyl here.They announced that at the MTV awards too, right after playing Everlong...I think. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones played with them on a scaffold in NYC.

pat smear didn't play on the first album, dave played everything on ithowever, i really love the second album as well there are some good songs on the third and everything else has been pretty meh for meas for the transition from pat, it was indeed at the VMAs, but it was on top of the marquee at radio cityhe finished a song and then quit and franz stahl came out and they played another songthen pat co-hosted the VMA fashion specialit was weird

Oh, I understand the whole "bleh the first album was best" thing, it's overused. In this case, it was the 2nd album that was best, though. Since then, it's been listenable, but it feels too much like it's conforming to radio hard rock, which I don't like. This isn't to say they haven't always sounded like what you hear on mainstream rock radio at the time, they have. It's just that the tastes of radio listeners changed, while my tastes haven't. I'm just jaded.
