at least somebody's making a living off her vanity

personally, i prefer to deprive others of a living by cutting my own hair and then keeping the $13 for myself

WTF, she spends $47,000 to go from the pic on the left to the one on the right?

She looks FAR better on the left!!! Is she crazy???

BTW, this is far more baffling to me:

http://www.stylelist.com/2010/03/29/the-price-of-pretty-women-spend-50-000-on-hair-over-lifetime/

Quote :
"According to a British survey conducted by Tresemme, the average woman spends a staggering $50,000 on her hair over her lifetime."

What kind of "average" woman is that? Did they also include the women in trailer parks and poor run down gangsta neighbourhoods? Or did they just include women who go to salons?

Quote :
"England, UK - According to a new survey conducted by TRESemme, women are spending a lot more than they think on their hair. According to the research, the average British woman spends about £27,722.52 on her hair in her lifetime. (That equates to over $50,000.00 in U.S. funds for you American readers.) It’s the equivalent of putting a child through college or buying a luxury car. Women spend an average of £83.88 ($160+ U.S. dollars) simply buying shampoos and conditioners in a year. When you add in the other expenses - £59.16 ($120+ U.S.) for home styling products and £260.00 ($520+ U.S.) for haircuts - we see a substantial annual expense. And for about 55 percent of women, the cost is increased by £166.50 ($330+ U.S.) each year to keep their hair colored they way they want it."

I am married to a British woman and she spends a total of about $100-150 per year on hair, not $1,000.

Also, the figures they give (~$1,000/year) will not be sustained for 55 years from the age of 15 to 70. Maybe they will be sustained from the age of 15 till 45, and after that, there will be a dramatic drop in the yearly expenses, and another much bigger drop after the age of 55 or so.

So, I call bullshit.

Women of TWW can add their personal experiences.

BTW, I know a woman who spends $10,000 to $15,000 per month every month all year on home furnishings and stuff. And $30,000 to $40,000 per month in the summer for a couple of months. I used to tutor her son... my God he was such an ass.

^ 1,000 a year isn't a lot for a typical middle-class woman in a metropolitan area. Most women I know from work spend between 200 and 350 every 6 to 8 weeks just on cut and color. That's over 1,000 per year right there.

Add styling products/supplies to the mix and that's prob another 100 bucks or more.

Also, your argument about ghetto chicks is not valid. Do you know how much hair extensions cost?

(Please note, I don't spend that much on my hair and am in no way saying that people should spend that much on hair styles/supplies.)

I could possibly see $50k a lifetime on hair.

Especially if she gets her hair colored a lot.

Depending on where you live color can cost around ~$100
Then you have to go back every few months to get the roots touched up...

But then you decide to go a different color and that is another $100

Cut and style a few times a year

And then all the shampoo/conditioner, and all the other products, I could see 50K

I probably won't because I generally just keep my natural hair color, I add high lights every now and then, but I haven't since I left Raleigh. I'm also constantly growing out my hair, that allows me to visit the salon less frequently...

I spent nearly $45 on my hair last year.
It was a long hair year though, so that's only two haircuts.

The problem is that once women start to go gray, they color their hair more frequently. Every 4 to 8 weeks depending on how quickly your hair grows. Cut plus color can easily be 150 to 300 dollars. That's at least $1000 alone right there.

So, when you're in your teens and 20s, it's no big deal to get your hair cut/colored every 3 months. But once the gray comes in, you're screwed.

OK I guess I can see how it can be $1,000 or more per year.

However, when you look at the figure over a lifetime, it just sounds disgusting.

$50,000? In a world where people are dying due to lack of clean drinking water, spending $50,000 in your life just one hair as a lower-middle or middle class person is just sick. $50,000 will buy you a 2-story 5 room house in many many countries.

I bet if I showed a woman of any age a $50,000 luxury car and told her she is going to spend that much on her hair in her life, most would not believe it. And they basically said that in the results of the survey ("women are spending a lot more than they think on their hair").

I just think the $50,000 could be put to much better use (OK, spend $20K and put $30K to better use).

My wife uses henna to color her hair. It is dirt cheap, and she does it herself at home. And it is completely natural, so no nasty side effects.

Shut up.

No one cares about people in 3rd world countries or your cunt wife.

People want to have nice hair and if they have the money to do it, why not?

What's the point of being rich if you don't buy things other people can't afford?
