Just go to a post office or library and get another one, or call the 800 number on the census website and have another sent, no one will come to your house as long as you get the form in by May 1st.

Technically they can fine you, the last fine they issued was a ridiculously long time ago though. I filled it out once (this time), sent it in, and 2 weeks later there was another in the mailbox, so I'm wondering if they lost it and are subtly hinting they want me to fill it in, or if there was just a screw up. Either way, I threw it away, and if they come lookin' after May 5th they will find the house empty with a "For Sale" sign in front of it.

Actually, my fiance's mother is working for the census, she is getting $15 an hour to drive around with mileage added knocking on doors. They often don't offer constant employment. She worked for several weeks at the end of last year and they are just now hiring her back for as long as they need her. According to her and everyone else I have spoken to, there are penalties for not filling out the census, but they are pretty much never enforced.
